I'm on my second 911. When I got my first one my son very seriously approached me and said: Dad, promise me something would you? Please don't tell me how may miles per gallon you get with this car.

I was just suprised to see it that high since I certainly wasn't trying to save gas. Traveling on I-85 through Atlanta, I think they give you a ticket for going less than 80!

Yet another...your one of the few mentioning that the porsche is an ureliable high maintenance vehicle...it might be specific to your car. If it new maybe something to discuss with your dealer specially for a garage queen.

Slicky Rick, actually even though the time spent at dealer is not an exaggeration, my car has been flawless during the past year. The one electrical problem took weeks to solve. I have what I consider to be a terrible dealer but I live in the sticks and have limited choices.
I always plan to drive the 997S more, but since I have other more mundane vehicles, I usually opt for peace of mind and drive a clunker to work and a Subie on weekend trips.
So as not to hijack the thread any more than I have, I have been pleased with my mileage. I average, when I try, over 22 MPG.

Over the weekend did a ~600 mi. round trip in the 997 from Boston to Southwest Harbor, ME. According to the PCM 2.1, I averaged 23.5 mpg at an average speed of 68 mph. Not too bad, especially considering the various mods...

Often get 28+ mpg in my '09 C2S Cab while on trips. However, get that only with uncontaminated (no ethanol) gasoline. Contaminated gasoline costs me about 2 mpg.
