I've never had a rear wiper on any of my P-cars ('74 911, '83 911sc, '06 997) but have always admired them on others' cars. With 997's I've noticed that they seem to be a rare find. Personally I think they look great and really complete the look of the car. Does anyone else here agree? Does anyone else here know if I can retrofit one on my 997?

I agree. Wish I had one on my 08 C2S.

I also wish I had the external radio antenna. Also sunroof delete.

I might be in a class of one.

I personally do not like any rear wipers.......and it's very funny you made this thread because I was making fun of one last night to myself.......they seem okay on SUV's

I ordered one on my 02C2. Did not have one on the GT3 nor the 06C4. Did not miss it.
At speed I did not seem to need it. It did clean the window when I was stopped, but at that point, who cares?

I always figured that I would order one when I configured a new car, but I tend to buy my 911s used. I lucked out on my current car, and it has a rear wiper. Very handy for seeing where you've been. Or when backing-up in the rain.

To me it's an appearance thing more than anything else. My garage queen rarely sees any moisture on the window other than wash water.

I agree with you Grizz, you may very well be in a class by yourself on the antenna...

I don't have them either, but I do like them from an appearance standpoint. For the same reasons, it makes the rear look more, um, complete.

I too am interested in retrofitting one, if possible on a 997.2

I really like the look and function of the rear wiper.

It was actually a "must have" when I purchased my 997.

It completes the look of the rear and is handy when backing up in the rain.
If you have your front wipers on, as soon as you shift into reverse, the rear wiper automatically makes two swipes.

Very handy if you live in the Pacific Northwest.....clear view in rain or snow.

Whats the bits to add the wiper back in after the fact (damnit I knew I should have ordered with that option)?
New rear window, wiper assembly, wiring to the front...

Is there a washer nozzle and piping involved?

New stalk to activate the rear wiper?

I have the rear wiper, I think it looks Great.

Thanks for the information, that is pretty cool that it swipes twice when you put it in reverse. Good to know. I do not usually drive much in the Rain, but it is good to have if I get caught in it.

bumper plugs have a product to fill in the hole for those that want to remove the wiper (which I'd be included if I had one to begin with)

I have never had a rear wiper on any of my 911's. Ive gotten many complements on the looks of these cars over the years, but strangely not one person has told me how great the windshield wipers look. Do you really think the rear wiper makes the car look better? But then again, some people like black wheels. I guess if we all liked exactly the same things, even the 911 would be pretty boring ;-)
