TPMS/winter wheel set install
I just bought a 2012 4S (997.2)
Just bought these winter tires from balefire no TPMS installed on the wheels I've been told I can just switch out my current wheels for these. Should I have TPMS installed of just ignore the warning lights for the next few months, and do I need to buy spacers or anything else? I would appreciate any other advise (not mentioned in the numerous other posts about tire changing) on removing and installing wheels on a 997.2 Cheers! Brian |
You are only 400.00 away from doing it right.
The sensors and the valves are 330 at Tire Rack, maybe less at Suncoast, and a tire guy will install for 60.00 or so. You'll be glad you did it. |
If I were you I would use the Porsche sensors. The car's computer will mate with them with no additional programming necessary

I guess I would have to head to the dealer for those... how much would that cost? thank
And if I got aftermarket monitors what would I have to do to get them "mated" Brian. |
I order most of my parts from Suncoast Porsche. No affiliation.

The guys at Wheel Enhancements are super knowledgeable and helpful with this stuff. Got me all set up with OEM wheels and spacers and sensors for winter use on my 4S.
Interesting note...TPMS sensors from 997.1 don't communicate with 997.2 |

Beru RDE-001 433 Mhz. All 997's from '06 to'09 use the same sensor.
The system will recognize them when you install the wheels but you will most probably need to reset the system and will want to set them up for winter. The How to is in your owners manual and is not difficult. Do the reset woth the car running and stationary, once the reset starts you can drive off and forget it. They may not read immediately but they will by the next time you drive the car. |
