2009 997.2 C4S pdk
As a reference point for non-US market (Swiss market):
bought a heavily optioned 2009 997.2 C4S pdk. Here is a list of options in the car - as per sales sheet:
19 inch SportDesign Black wheels
7-speed double clutch transmission (Porsche Doppelkupplung - PDK)
Adaptive sports seats i.c.w leather interior
Aluminium Look interior package
Automatically dimming interior and exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor
BOSE Surround Sound System
CDC-4 six disc CD/DVD autochanger
Cruise control
Dynamic cornering lights
Extended navigation module for PCM 3.0
Fire extinguisher
Footrest in sports look
Heated seats
HomeLink
Limited slip rear differential lock
ParkAssist (parking aid rear)
Porsche crest embossed on head restraints
Preparation Vehicle Tracking System
Rear section of center console in leather
Rear wiper
Seat belts in Silver-Grey
Side skirts
Sport Chrono Package Plus
Sports exhaust system
Telephone module
Three-spoke multifunction steering wheel in smooth leather for PDK
Tyre Pressure Monitoring system (TPM)
Universal audio interface
Wheel centre set
Wheel spacers 5mm
Windscreen with grey top tint
Car had 1 owner who put 28,000 km on it over 3.5 years. He paid a whopping CHF 205k when bought new (about USD 175k back then).
The car came with mildly used winter tyres, new summer tyres, 2 years Porsche factory guarantee, car was consigned having undergone full service ("the big one", where they change spark plugs, brake fluid etc.) On consignment the car looked like new.
Deal done at CHF 89.9k (around USD 96k with today's fx rate), which means a CHF depreciation of about 56% from original sales price.

I'm in the same boat, really want an S. As usual I'm over thinking the entire process, enjoying the "hunt". Now seeing some 2009 30k mile regular C2 cars for $55,000 or a little less...has me THINKING it may be worth the upgrade in both function and resale in the shorter term. My problem is if this "hobby" sticks for a while, I will be on the upgrade train, either in parts/mods or in cars, so I have to make a reasonable buy.

A black 2009 coupe S with 23k miles recently sold for $59k here. It had upgraded wheels, chrono, and other goodies. It originally was $69k on the lot but after 4 weeks they dropped the price twice.
I was set on a cab but decided at that price I would look at it. Sold the day I finally went to the dealer.

I traded in my 2005 C2 in May for a CPO 2009 C2 for $65K. Car was unusual color, Aqua Blue, and had sat on their lot for three months. 12,000 miles and literally like a brand new car. Original price was $92K. Bought at Performance Porsche in North Carolina.

...already spent about 10-12k in mods and upgrades.... Just lowering the car from its ridiculous ugly Stance using Coil overs was a $3,000 Job after buying a used set of coilovers + labour..
