Duramatric Programming

1 Attachment(s)
Now that I have my durametric cable, I feel like I can finally start eliminating some of the things the car does that drive me crazy. I've been looking around the site for a durametric programming thread, but haven't been able to find one for the 997 (if there is one, maybe someone can post the link?)

So here's my first adventure into reprogramming the car - getting rid of the seat belt chime. Attached is a screen shot of what needs to be changed. Just flip it from yes to no and no more seat belt warnings!

Anyone know how to program the windows to open/close via the key? Any other programming tricks that people have picked up that they care to share?

some of these may be redundant and/or useless but here are some threads i've run across in the past:

Money Pit 951, i did the seat belt chime and you are correct, that's how you do it. I haven't played with the other one yet. I also know for a fact that the chrono can NOT be programmed to stay on with the durametric tool but i know the dealer can do it. I had mine done at the dealer for $50 after i made a call to durametric and they confirmed that is not possible through durametric at the moment.

hey money pit, if you figure out the open/close windows with the key thing, or how to get the passenger window "one touch up", please let me know. i couldnt fig either one out (even tho i think one of those threads gives a procedure for each).

Thanks for the post and good start Money... I'll post it to our DIY sticky for others to leverage as well. Let's keep this one rolling. I have the Enthusiast Tool/Cable but considering a swap towards the Professional Tool to access some of the coding functions. Looks like DM will give me full credit to swap it out directly with them as I purchased it from them directly.

How much does the Durametric tool cost?

USMC_DS1 10-31-2012 11:16 AM

~$287 from Durametric directly for the Enthusiast kit... much more for the Pro kit. http://www.durametric.com/buyus.aspx BTW, if you buy directly from Durametric you can supposedly trade in your old Enthusiast kit for a Pro kit minus trade-in value. I've been considering this myself... FYI, I have no affiliation with Durametric other than owning the Enthusiast kit myself.

You can only do this with the $795 Pro version....right?

USMC_DS1 10-31-2012 01:30 PM

My guess is that you can trade in for any of the Pro kits as they have a variety of them... but try Owen there for the specifics. He's very helpful. I'm considering a trade-in for the Professional without extension cable or round adapter @ $675.

USMC_DS1: Thank you for the reply re pricing. My brother is now shopping for a 997.2 and I think once he has his, we will buy a Durametric and split the price. Seems like it would be a nice thing to have to play with the cars a bit.

USMC_DS1 10-31-2012 03:19 PM

Sure thing Cairo. That would be great value split between the two of you as the Enthusiast tool will support up to 3 cars. Pro tool is unlimited.

There are still too many things that Durametric software doesn't do but dealer PIWIS does that I just cannot justify a jump to the pro version. Heck, I cannot even set the service reminders to a proper custom value (it came new out of box with 10k miles, 1 year, but all Durametric resets take it to 20kmiles/2years... well I want to be able to set it to 10k miles and 1 year but Dura only claims to be able to reset to the 'major service' intervals.... so the service reset / and notification in the car, is now rather useless)

Anybody verify if the window opening and closing can be done through the key fob by proper programming either through durametric or piwis?
