Default I have a squeak...

2009 997.2 c2s 30,800 Miles so far only scheduled maintenance. Did add a new battery 3 mos ago. Running the AC does not make a difference. Only squeaks after the car is warmed up and I only really hear it when in the garage. Not noticable while driving. Just took this video tonight not my best work. Lets out a big squeak when the engine is shut off. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Did some searches but other threads were vague and unresolved i.e dealer said normal.

sounds like a squeaky bearing(s). I would just remove the serpentine belt and spin each pulleys to see if you can reproduce the squeak. Also check for wobbly bearings.

one more vote for a water pump. They don't seem to last very long on these cars and you want to get it replaced before the shaft play pushes the impeller into the block casting

Your warranty should take care of it.

Take off the serp belt and wiggle the WP pulley. If there is any play at all, its the WP. Don't drive it if its the WP. The WP impeller is plastic and if it grenades, it will send plastic pieces into the head which can block the very narrow coolant passages and lead to a cracked head. Don't fool around with a bad WP.

Thanks for all the insightful information. I will be taking The advice. Last question, do I flat bed car to dealer or do I even risk driving to the dealer. Yes the car is still under warranty.

I dropped the car off at the dealer last night,it was raining, and ofcourse the car was quite as a church mouse. Dealer just called unable to duplicate the noise. They offered to put the car inside to try and dry it out for the night since it is still raining and check again Friday.

Dealer returned the car. Said they were unable to duplicate the squeak. I had it back less than 20 minutes and it has returned. Not very happy right now since the obvious consensus was failing water pump.
