Default Best Brake pads for street & track

I was told by a tech inspector at an AutoX a couple of weeks ago that my FRONT brake pads will need to be replaced soon. I am planning on participating a few AutoX's and a few DE's a year. Could you guys recommend type of brake pads that would be good for both street and track use? And if I am replacing the pads with non-OEM pads, do I have to replace both front and rear at the same time?

I only use OEM brake parts on my cars when the original factory braking is without a problem. Should there be a brake wear or performance problem, then I will switch to something else. However, I do not XC my car.

I have run DE events with OEM pads and they have worked just fine.
But I now swap out pads for each DE event. I use OEM pads on the street and Pagid Yellow for the track.
If you have an "S" the swap is easy to do. The difference in stopping is noticeable. They should handle heat better too.

Different pads have different friction levels. I'd use the same on all corners. If you read recos on this site you'll find some guys that mix compounds of Pagid with good success.

If it's just basic DE and AutoX, I'd stick to OEM, specially if you never felt like you over-heated the brakes.

If you over-heated, then means your fast enough and an upgrade to Ferodo 2500 pads is a great option. That's the *only* pads that could be qualified as street/track pad with doing great on both, no other pad I've ever seen to come even close.

If you're realy serious about tracking, as others said, Pagid Yellow for track and OEM for street.

Overall, I think for your purpose OEM pads should just be fine.

Just like tires, the best option is to use separate pads for track and street.
I put PFC01s in front. It was a big difference on the track compare to OEM Textar's. I was prepare to swap them back in case of noise and not a great performance when cold. I keep them now all the time and they are quiet. About $230.

Autox use stock pads...they work great cold for autox

Starting out with DE use stock

Solo DE you will need pads that can handle the heat.

This brings up a good question - where do I pick up a good deal on replacement rotors and brake pads for my 2006 C4s Cab? I'll be due to replace them all next year and my dealerships prices are insane for stuff like this.

How much is a reasonable price for replacing all 4 rotors and pads including installation?

Thank you all for your input. Per your recommendation, I've decided to go with OEM and just placed an order though Suncoast. I've been searching and reading up on diy posts about brake pads replacement. I just hope I don't get stuck while I attempt to do this for the first time. I guess I will consider changing the pads to other brands such as Ferodo 2500, Pagid or PFC01 when I get better at the track.

Well I can tell you to stay away from PFC01. Use PFC08 or Pagid RS19 Yellow front and RS14 Black rear on the track. These don't make good AutoX pads though because it takes heat to make them work.
