i did this on my cayenne. painted them red and bought the caliper stickers off ebay. 6 years later the red is still nice and red (no chips/cracking--bought from pep boys) and the stickers and still stuck on.
i have a black 997.2 with the aluminum calipers. have to get around to painting them. I am torn between red or yellow. any suggestions?

VHT Flameproof - Flat Black.
My wheels are flat black, so I suggest just matching the rotor hat color with the wheel color.
With the rotors off the car, I scuffed up the hats with 200 grit sandpaper, masked off the rotor faces, then applied about 4 coats of paint. It has held up very well.

Just painted my calipers this weekend. Read endless blogs about how easy it would be....NOT SO!
But, the end result is really worth the hassle. I would strongly recommend caliper decals (stickers)rather than stencils though. The decals are simple to install, come out perfect, and are reflective too. Removing and prepping the calipers was a bigger job than I anticipated, and the key is the prep. I can't understand how some people claim to paint theirs while on the car. There's no way that could provide a decent result, IMHO.
In between the six coats of caliper paint, I took the opportunity to remove the cler bra and yellowing rock guards as well. Like prepping the calipers, it was teadious work, but the car is looking fantastic. New wheels coming in on Wednesday....I can't wait.

Just kidding as I did the same thing to my C2 993. Looks great. I did them while they were on the car and thought it was pretty easy and I also used the stencils. After 4 years look good as new. Used a Duplicolour kit

Dammit, buddy911t. I was just about done messing with my car. I had noticed that the calipers looked lousy but thought painting them would be too much trouble. Now that I know there are stickers just for calipers, I HAVE to paint the calipers.
Anybody got a retail-available color match for the Porsche red caliper paint?

Great job, and might I add that's a fantastic looking car too. It looks like you've really taken great care of your car. The red calipers really look great with the black body.
