Default Hello From Newbie!

Hello everybody! I've signed up here a few months ago when the seed has been planted in my head that I should consider the iconic 911 for my next car. During these months I have been browsing and lurking the forums to learn about the 911 - This is an extraordinary body of Porsche knowledge!

I have also entered into the 911 realm at an interesting time as the 991 generation begins...

An opportunity has come up recently which may allow me to realize the dream of owing the iconic 911 sooner than I expected, a friend's 2012 911 GTS lease will be up in 6 months and he is willing to buy the car out at residual and then transfer it to me without profit. I believe the residual should be below market after 18-month lease and 15,000 miles at $83K? The GTS is pretty loaded, PDK, PASM, Sport Chrono, Nav, Bose, leather interior, adaptive sport seats, etc. The purchase price was $121K.

So I'm really excited and want to say hi, and can't wait for the lease to end so I can join the ranks of a 997 owner

Now I need to read up on the lease end process and get my ducks in a row!

If I could get that deal I'd jump all over it. Most of the GTS cars I've seen are closer to 100k than low 80k range.

Good luck! If you lease it through Porsche America you may be able to get it Porsche Certified Preowned. Just a thought but may have some value.

I started out on a '01 C2. You are very lucky to start at a GTS!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope he doesn't wake up and change his mind!

I wasn't quite ready to step up to a 911 yet. It has always been a car that I admired since teenage years but it seemed so out of reach through out most of my adult life. Well, my friend let me take an extended test drive on the GTS recently and I was HOOKED. I couldn't stop thinking about it since and made up my mind to take the leap.

Yes, I'd be extremely lucky to start with a C GTS but I'm sure I would be more than happy with a base C2 as well.

I plan on taking out a loan from a credit union for it to pay off my friend as he buys out the car (or the leasing company directly if I can do that), can I still PCP/CPO the vehicle for additional warranty if the dealer is not involved in the sale?

Probably not. You can get an additional warrenty through a third party source such as EasyCare.

Sounds like your friend needs to go straight to the top of your christmas list.

That looks like a Ruby Red in front of your garage.

Excellent deal! Congratulations. You will enjoy the car. You will have no regrets. Learn to drive the rear engine car...its a bit different than you think. Take it easy at first. Play in a vacant parking lot to find where she gives.

If you pass on it and your friend is feeling generous, I'd jump on that in a second!

C4 ruby red/sand interior. I picked it up last fall as a winter driver. The funny thing is the Vette only has a couple hundred miles so far this summer. I tend to grab for the porshe keys first.

Default GTS

To buy a CPO, ask your local dealer to buy it and then certify it. I do it often.
Pretty sure the guy wont charge more than 1k and the cost of CPO. Everything should be covered by existing warranty anyway.
