Default are these 997 sport seats ?

I am looking at these seats for my project car, I am told that they are Boxster and 997 sport chrono seats . They have the air bags in them , what is a fair price to pay? Any thoughts appreciated .

Those are just the regular 997 seats. Nothing to do with sport chrono. There were 5 types of seats (that I am aware of)
- regular
- regular, power
- sport seats
- adaptive sport seats
- sport buckets

Ditto - regular seats w/ manual adjusters. I would guess early 997 also. I think the seat back pocket went away after the first couple years. Might be a MY 07 change?

No idea on price - but check the ebay seller "losangelesdismantler" especially completed auctions. I've seen seats listed by him before.

Where are the air bags located in the seats? How do they deploy?

You can see the rectangular shaped outline just below the backrest release lever; that's the airbag module. No first hand experience, thank god, but I assume they release out and forward.

Unfortunately I do! They release out and to the side of the door (I guess some of it could be called 'forward'). Compliments the air bag on the top of door window sill, which shoots up towards the glass area of the door near side of your face and the frontal air bags which cannon ***** straight at you! You only 'see' them after they have deflated so it's all very fuzzy in memory. Three per side in a 997 - six in total! It works - that is all I can say!

In our '07 MB CL600 that I am driving now for our trip in the West (Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado), I have 9 airbags (including a driver's knee air bag!) to protect us. So far we have not tested their efficacy.

Not an experience I'd like to share! Thankfully, it sounds like your car did it's job.
