Stunning! I have the issue of Excellence with the F77 as the cover...seems like a great package, and the color is a real head turner as well. Was it reprinted or was it a PTS car? Looks like you even have some green interior bits.

Amazing color and car, "dunlopnick."

When you're behind the wheel of that beauty, here's a phrase you'll never (ever) hear a police officer say:
"I'm going to let you go with a warning this time." :nono:

Very very nice. I was tempted by a pts 997.1 S Cab in that color scheme for sale in Houston awhile back, but decided to make a bigger step up to a .2 GTS. More of these cars should be in more flashy color schemes, imo.

Love the new car Nick ! Killer color.

Remind us again what's included in the f77 package.

And keep posting more pics of that beauty.

Take it you like Dunlops?

F77 Package - Airbox, Plenum, Headers and Exhaust (Tubi), Giac, H&R springs on mine - RG5 to go on to help round out the car.

Phil - now thats a great color also ....

I might be a bit bias here (you think?), but Signal Green is a hell of a gorgeous color! Phil above brought this link to my attention since he knows how much I like these bright colors on Porsches. Thanks Phil!

dunlopnick, let me know if the 'colour code' (the way the factory labels it) on the inside of the gas lid says 'W25'. I knew of 3 Signal Green PTS in US for the .1 997's. Two MY 2007 (an S and a 4S) were ordered on spec by Pioneer in San Diego. The other was the MY 2008 S cab ordered by a Houston dealer. That was the one for resale a few months ago at luxury car sales outfit in Texas.

Now yours is the #4 I know of. I saw your car for sale (who can't forget that black stripe!) back East, like Pennsylvania or somewhere in that area. I monitor Autotrader & Cars.com for these unusual color cars. Maybe you can give us more details regarding your purchase - finding & negotiating the buy is half the fun! What dealer ordered this PTS originally? Spec or for customer? Anything else you can tell us (or pm me) would be greatly appreciated.

Saludos,
Eduardo

L998 Code for Paint -
Loeber Chicago original Dealer
Bought it privately, excellent guy who was relocated to Taiwan (really good guy) I drove it straight back overnight from St Charles, IL to Wester Chester PA for my local C&C on St Paddy's Day ... then home to Delaware. The second pic is from that morning as I have a spare lower splitter in the passenger side of the car.

Lots of options and then the F77 package - great deal, car had just 5702 miles when I bought it - Its a BUTZI stripe now ..... Its my daily driver so a few more miles now..

Highly spec'd by the dealer 2008 MY and not sold till mid 09 ....

Nick: All very interesting information...but also very confusing. Could the L998 code that appears in your car's paperwork just signify a 'Paint to Sample' code but not a specific color? We have had discussions in Rennlist before and L998 has been usually associated with all PTS orders, not a particular color. Have you personally checked the inside of YOUR gas cap to check what it reads? They label it 'Colour Code' a la British. That should give you the specific color code for your car. Please let me know. Thanks.

From 1991 to 1993, Porsche did offer a 'Signal Green' in the 911, 928 and 968. That Porsche color code then for this color was 'L22S' M1. The original 'Signal Green' was introduced in 1966/67, very early in the history of the 911's. Color code then was 'R6001'. In 1968/69 is was '6829' and in 1970/71 was '7810'. Back in the late 60's and early 70's, 'Signal Green' was a 'Special Paint Color' and never offered as a 'Standard'. So it had to be always custom ordered. It has been quite rare from day one and not many original paint examples have survived to the present. To my knowledge, 'Signal Green' was never offered again until 1991 although it's possible someone ordered it before or after as custom order / paint to sample.

As far as modern Porsches in 'Signal Green' are concerned, I do have to tell you that Pioneer Porsche in San Diego did custom ordered two 911's in that color in MY2007. We don't know exactly what specific color the factory decided to 'copy', but most likely it was a version of the more modern '91/'93 color. Signal Green has a lot of yellow in it and back in the 60's/70's quite a bit of lead was used to obtain the vibrancy of that color hue in the paint. Modern paint formulations change all the time and I am certain the formula for 'Signal Green' was upgraded in 2007. In any case, when the two cars finally arrived at Pioneer in the spring of 2007 (PTS is always built quite late in MY by Porsche and the cut-off for the orders is months earlier in the Fall, so all very time consuming!), they found that the color code that Porsche had assigned to the new 'Signal Green' paint was 'W25' and not 'L22S'. When Loeber and Porsche of West Houston decided to order their 'Signal Green' 911's for MY2008, exactly one year later, I am pretty sure that Porsche also provided them with the same color - 'W25' - if in fact they requested 'Signal Green' which I believe they did! Besides Pioneer, Loeber and Porsche of West Houston, the old Stoddard (now Beachwood) dealership in Ohio and Porsche of Roslyn in NY have a reputation for doing fabulous PTS colors on their 911 orders in recent years - and for spec orders! That is quite gutsy of them and I salute them for taking the risks! We have all benefited from their creativity and imagination on these unusual orders!

Many folks have confused 'Signal Green' with the color Porsche developed for the 2007/2008 gt3 RS. That color is officially called 'RS Green' and has more blue in it than yellow! It is easy to tell apart when side by side. I have a photo in my file of my car with a gt3 RS at an R Gruppe function which shows the contrast quite clearly! I will retrieve that photo another day since it's not in my files right now. In the meantime, here was my 'Signal Green' car photographed last year in my Carmel garage. 'RS Green' has also a different code - 2D8 (J5). From the looks of your photos, I am pretty certain your color is 'Signal Green'.

So please check on all of this and let us know. Your car looks spectacular, by the way!

Eduardo
