Default curious.. does CPO really go away on dealer resale?

I read on RL that CPO stayed valid on resale only if a car is sold privately or via a franchised dealer. But how does Porsche really know how a car changed hands?

I have been searching for a car for bit and I have come across several cars that were for sale by non-franchised dealers who claims the CPO will remain valid. One said he is just a broker of sorts who matches seller and buyer, who then deal directly.. I can see how this is a way around the rules.. but the reality is (I think) he has a signed title and just never takes title in his own name. Another dealer said CPO will only go away if a car is traded into a non franchised dealer and sold at a dealer auction. If a car is traded but doesnt go through auction and gets sold off the lot, Porsche wont "know" and hence CPO remains. All seems abit too shadt for me but now I am curious, how do they determine if CPO is valid or not? carfax/autocheck? another way?

thanks.

Best bet, assuming it is truly a Porsche Certified and documented vehicle, is to get the VIN and call 1-800-PORSCHE to find out if the coverage holds.

My understanding is that it only transfers through a private sale. Checking the VIN ith a dealer or PCNA is good advice.

If you buy privately, there shoud be a CPO warranty booklet that includes a transfer postcard that you fill out and send in to PCNA. If seller doesn't have it and you verify that the car is under CPO warranty, any dealer should be able to provide you with the transfer card.
