Will the 20" rims work on the 997.2?

Why? Our suspension are made to work with 19inch wheels, and 20inch doesn't gain you nothing... I also found ALL of 991 wheels to be very ugly, special at stock colors (if you ordered one, get it painted).

Relax just curious not like I am going to spend $6000 on 20" rims. My Q7 S-Line has 21" and my wife has banged them up and I know the Q7 also comes with anything from 19" thru 21" so I assume suspension adjustments are probably different. I like more of the Carrera S 19" designs compared to the 991 as you stated.

Was just curious as the reason behind it... most probably they fit (just check the offsets).

I was actually quite surprised how cheaply they looked specially the ones that got the stock dark gray color, I had a similar looking wheel on my 2003 GTI. I actually think the best looking one is the 19" model off base Carrera 991, then a black/body color painted one of the 20s.

One key thing is that porsche has tuned the suspension around the weight of the 19 inch rim. You can go smaller and lighter and it will only help the suspension perform better but anytime you add unsprung weight, the rebound and bump have to be changed accordingly. Larger rims also worsen braking and acceleration due to the added weight and inertial forces.

It is a worthwhile question as many people are probably wondering the same thing. Just like 993 owners who put newer bigger wheels on their cars and 996 owners that put 997 wheels on their rides.

They might look good and if the gt3 version brings a lightweight version of a 20 that's lighter than sOme 997 19s

The 991 with 20's and appropriate tires has taller overall diameter than the 997 with 19's. So the 991 has gearing and final drive ratio that are designed for this taller tire diameter. So if you were to buy 20" take-offs with tires, they would be too tall. You would need new lower profile tires. Which would make the ride very harsh and put you at greater risk of pothole damage. I don't know about the offsets.

Suggest 20's on a 997 on this forum and be ready to be near lynched in the past.... now the 991 has 20's and all of sudden its more acceptable. Wheels are getting progressively larger it seems on many cars.

Lots of people add 20's to a 997.... a well built nice wheel in a 20 can be less weight then a lesser make 19 or even 18 possibly...Not a wheel size for the track that's for sure etc but if you ever wanted to put 20's sure can find a nice set up through a quality maker.

991S with 20" has sidewall height like our 997S 19's. Overall diameter 20" on 991S is larger than overall diameter 19" on 997S.

997S with 20" will need a shorter skinny sidewall to fit thus greatly reducing performance and ride.

You must keep the front to rear overall diameter with in check so as not to upset ABS, PSM and so forth.

20s are common on the 997. These are the same folks saying no to 19s on the 996.

I think they look great so long as you get the right sizing and quality brand. Lowering is a must.

20' rims sounds like.... bent rims. In my opinion, the 19" rims on my 2008S are big enough and my car is not a daily driver!
