Default Is this in my head?

So finally hit a pothole. Not a major one but noticeable. Checked tires and they are ok. I do feel a bit more slack in the steering wheel but not sure if it's in my head! I don't think the rims are bent. The car drives straight and I don't feel any vibration in the steering wheel. What could the extra slack be in the steering wheel if it's not in my head? I am assuming if you bent rims, you would definitely feel it, no?

But wouldnt that have caused a bubble in the tire? And would that cause the steering wheel slack issue?

Check the inside of the tires as well. The inner walls can also bubble if you mess up a belt.

I just hit a pot hole recently too. In my case, the tire popped. Fortunately, I had tire insurance and it was replaced. I also had an alignment done. It MADE a differance. You might want to consider checking your alignment just for piece of mind.

You may want to check your tie rods or ball joints to make sure there is no slop on the suspension. Theres ways to check it by jacking the car up and rocking the wheel

Having the wheel balanced should determine a tire defect. May need to check alignment.

Sometimes a slightly bent rim won't show up until you have the wheel dynamically balanced. This was the case on my S4 Avant. It wasn't bent enough to be noticeable with the naked eye, and because it was a rear wheel I never noticed any vibration, but the spin balance definitely revealed a slight wobble in the wheel. I agree with Mumbles; have the suspect wheel checked.

I know what you mean. That stuff drives me batty. Get it throughly checked by a garage/dealer you have confidence in for peace of mind and to end second guessing yourself on the issue.

That's the only way you will be happy it has been properly addressed.

I hate those F'n pot holes constantly on the look for them.
