I haven't driven it yet, but from the reviews, it seems the C7 Corvette is actually more of a true sports car than before, even though the demographics are the oldest of any brand. A bit of a paradox. Sure the interior is upscale, but most are still sold with a manual, and the chief engineer said that the 911 was the benchmark for steering feel, handling, etc.

If I ever upgrade the 997.1 C2S, it will be to either a 997 GT3 or a 997 Turbo. The 991 series does not offer anything of improvement in my book.

I rent Stingrays all the time when on vacation. It is an absolute beast and yes, they have not succumbed to the GT tradition. I would buy one tomorrow if they werent considered a normal car and depreciate. My 997 C4S is holding its value and I actually love it! Plus I can rent a Stingray on the next trip, cant do that for an affordable price with a 911.

BTW, I got mine for a week through Avis for $930 including Sat radio and all taxes.

And yes, the 991 is bigger and more of a GT car. Im not ready for it yet, but there might be a day when one is in my garage.

I recently went from a 997.1 C2S to a 997.2 GTS. I have tried to like the 991 but cannot get past it. I took a serious look at them, and believe the 997.2 will be in my garage for quite awhile. I'll be 50 in a few months.

The OP was in 2012, no? I think it's time for an update.
