You know - anything can happen to anything especially if you stare at it long enough. These forums are a great place for info but they do tend to fixate one on what could happen etc... Keep in mind that I highly doubt this type of close attention and scrutiny goes on let's say for a Ford Taurus. The good news is statistically these are GREAT cars and worth every penny of the up keep. With good weather coming we can all get off the forums and out of the road where we really belong!

Do you have any idea what caused this to happen?

The $21K for my engine replacement covered a long block rebuilt engine from Porsche. Number 2 cylinder was the one that was cracked. I never heard the official word on the cause. The speculation is either a water infiltration into the cylinder or some metallurgical problem. If anyone wants to know, I can post later with the symptons leading to the diagnosis and pictures of the old engine and the new "rebuilt" engine.

I just purchased a Fidelity Platinum 4 year extended warranty for my 06 C2S cab, 1 day before the CPO expired. The car had 34,500 miles on it. At 35k the premium would have gone up a step in cost. I decided it was worth the peace of mind and would assist in resale should I decide to sell in 2 or 3 years. It pays to shop around for these warranties, as sellers make money on them. Fidelity doesn't care who you buy the warranty from, so I called a Honda dealer as well as my Porsche dealers. The Honda dealer was almost as low as the lowest Porsche dealer, and lower than another Porsche dealer.
