UPDATE: Dealership unable to find the cause. It can only be heard inside cabin and they cannot hear anything wrong outside the car. They said to keep an ear on it and may go away by itself. Maybe I'll just install a set of 200 cell cats, it'll probably overpower that noise. Thanks.

Can you hear it outside of your garage? Inside or outside the car.

I can hear it while idling in traffic if I turn radio and A/C off.

My C2 DFI does not make this noise, but i concur with those who suggest pump or vacuum. Did you have this noise before replacing the fuel pump. is the noise coming from the right rear seating area? If so, my understanding is that that is near waterpump location but not sure.

I've got pretty much the same noise on my '09 3.8 DFI. Did you figure out what yours was? I took mine into the dealership this week and after a day of investigating they said it was the fuel pump. They're replacing it today.

i would agree - sounds more like a pump or electrical engine but who knows which one. can be fuel pump too.

if you cannot hear it from behind then it may be steering, check level of pentosin in the back reservoir. may be something else gets actvated by ECU. may be your PCM module searches for CD. kinda odd sound but, i got to tell, when you`ll hear a real metal grinding noice you will not mistake it with anything.

i have a 3.6 dfi C2 and I can't make out the noise you're calling out at all in the video. And I have a high end audio system on my computer.

That said, I haven't noticed anything like you describe with my car.

After replacing the fuel pump, the dealership called me to say that they can still hear the noise and are going to continue investigating.

Default Intermittent noise at idle

I have the exact same noise when idling after the engine is warmed up. I have a 2009 targa 4S and the noise only comes from inside the car and from the rear just like Gray's video. Brought the car in to the dealer and they said nothing to worry about. It is a distant sound from the rear and every 2-3 sec. Sorry to bring this up again but does anyone have any ideas.
Thanks
