headed to a bondurant course.....
In phoenix. A 2d Z06 course. Anyone have any advice? I'm interested to drive a vette, and then get home and compare to my GTS.

I did Bondurant years ago when they were still at (then) Sears Point in Sonoma CA. Be sharp and rested; save partying for afterwards. Other than that, just have a blast.

I did the one day course in 2010. Take out the insurance, just in case. I think it was $120 for $6,000 deductible / full coverage.
One thing I remember; the driver's seat bolsters were falling off and the center console had come adrift from my knee pushing against it.
IIRC, we did the small oval and skid pad in the morning, then the autocross and road course in the afternoon.
I think there were 4 in my group. The instructor did extra laps with the 2 fastest of us after the others quit for the day.

Wow! The course was a blast. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves cars and driving. I actually feel like I owe a big Thank You to the local Porsche, Audi, and BMW clubs in the KC region, though, for giving me a really good background in car control at their cumulative DE events at the Heartland Park in Topeka. In the DE's we spent much time in the classroom talking about the physics of automobile control, and in groups 1 and 2 we ALWAYS had an instructor in the passenger seat wired to the driver by headset. At $200 to $300 per week-end, well, what a bargain! At Bondurant, otoh, there wasn't so much in the classroom but we spent real-time in skid-pad cars working on control of understeer and oversteer, accident avoidance, practiced trail-braking extensively at high speed, and got to drive someone else's Z06's. The instructors at Bondurant were great also.
Now I'm eager to get out in my GTS and work on a few things, but I'm afraid the lack of torque compared to the Z06 is going to be disappointing. Regarding the Z06, it's got an impressive engine and I really love the manual gearbox, but overall the car feels kind of industrial, as in industrial strength performance, without much pizzazz.
