If you think this is a bad design, you should try the Saab one!
They just totally break off after you spin them out.

Correct, I had 1 83 turbo and 2 85&86 SPG's before my 06 93 vert and my 08 93 Aero, with the spinning cup holders 😀

Woot! Saab drivers unite! My major project car was an 88 SPG, but I had a litany of other classic 900s, a 99 rally car and a 9000. Soon I'll be back into Saabs with my Dad's old 07 9-3 Aero SportCombi.

It has cup holders

Actually - Daughter discovered them some time ago but I never used them. Stupid placement right above the PCM.

I saw somewhere here a solution with a stainless steel cup holder that was put close to the shifter. Could be a good idea once the cup holder is fixed.

Has anybody tried to open this on the cupholder assy.. I think it's the one that slows down the swing of the arms... dont want to do it just yet. Someone might have already tried it..

there is one on each side on the bottom portion
