Default remote keylock function audible sound?

Newbie question

Is there a way to activate the horn beep or some other audible sound when locking the doors with the keyfob remote? I can't tell when the doors are locked or unlocked.

Please advise!

thanks in advance

AFIK Porsche don't have this function. The indicator lights flash once or twice to indicate unlock and lock

No, Porsche does not have an audible indicator when the car locks securely.

However, if the glove box, center console lid, or the trunk lid is not closed when locking the car, you WILL hear an audible sound. This indicates at least one of those items is not completely closed, and possibly, not secured.

you can disconnect the wire connector to the arm rest glove box in the center console. the horn will beep-as if a compartment isnt closed, but all the alarm functions will still work

Are you talking about a 997.1 or a 997.2 for the wire connector?

Not on the 997 - just the glove box. On the 996 you could do that with the center console.

OK thanks for the update. Been trying to figure out a way to have audible signal on a 997.2 without having to add the remote key system from Mods4cars. Nothing yet.

The 997 doesn't have an audible alert to locking vice unlocking because it's a European car and there are laws and regulations against noise in Europe. Imagine having to endure hearing every person locking their car and listening to this beep and that beep all morning long.

The 997 lock system is brilliant. You press it quickly once to either lock or unlock it. One button. If you become absent minded as you are walking away from the car, hit the button again just in case you may have forgotten to lock it. If you do not disturb the car by opening either door the car will automatically LOCK the car as you are walking away and you press the button one too many times and inadvertently unlock the car. It will interpret that as you wanted to lock it but you accidently unlocked it. It will lock it for you, without resorting to beeps and squeaks.

easy to remember the lights 'code'
1 blink = Hi!
2 blinks = bye-bye!

I learned that in this forums

+1. Beeping horns are so... Ford Pinto. Or optimistically: Toyota Corolla.

And the door locks are so loud that you can hear them cycling within 6 feet.
