Decided some protection for the front radiators wouldn't be a bad idea.
Started with this coated gutter guard, cut to fit and painted flat black to help blend in. Secured with small black zip ties. Total investment about $5 and maybe 90 minutes time.
Great job. That stuff is perfect for front grill screens. I bought a bunch of it and made custom grill inserts for the front of my widebody Cayenne - even used some old 914 rear deck letters I had lying around at the junction point between two pieces in the large center section to add some additional character.

The car is Malachite Green Metallic. Not a PTS but a very expensive paint option I've been told and one that was rarely selected. It's a beautiful color and pretty dynamic in various lighting conditions. The front picture above had the white balance a bit blown out to try and better expose the black grill guards. There are more realistic with no photo shopping...
Looks absolutely INSANE on the Cayenne! Love the center mesh with the P O R S C H E, looks great and totally fits the widebody nicely!
I'm assuming this gutter guard only protects against stones/pebbles... Or does it also reduce the sand blasting damage thats bound to happen to the rad fins? On my McLaren that I daily'd for 30,000km the front exposed rad fins were all bent to hell, and although I had no coolant issues, it bothered me knowing that they looked damaged on an otherwise flawless looking front end.
Having learnt that lesson, I am looking for ways to protect them as I've seen other daily'd 911's and they have the same damage/wear on theirs and wondering if this sized gutter guard screens do the trick or do I have to go with a finer mesh (without sacrificing air flow).
Any input from you seasoned P owners would be helpful!

The front bumper on my RUF 997 has a similar scale screening on them and the radiators don't have any bent fins - some sandblasting and some bug too, but have otherwise been very well protected so I think this type of screening works well for the intended purpose, as you're not going to stop everything.
Half of it was driving home to Texas from California. The other half I can’t really account for except I just drive and have fun. No real road trips yet, just driving around having fun. Oh yea it is my DD. I don’t believe in garage queens.
That's the best way to enjoy a 997 in my opinion. Welcome back home. Always great to have another 997 in the Lone Star State!

My day was complete. I got a good report card from Blackstone in the morning and then chased down a murdered out 997.2 Turbo S on the 101...only to find two blondes inside. It was straight out of National Lampoons Vacation.
