Stretched its legs and took it around some southern Indiana back roads on a small group tour. Thanks to fellow Rennlister Patriot993 for organizing. Good times.

Purchased a Spec 2+ clutch and AASCO LWFW.....Also the Agency Power short shifter arrived in the mail, apparently they are on backorder. I think I got the last available one for some time. Had to buy from 4 places and be refunded only to wait on the last one, I guess AP found one laying around in inventory lol.

I'm interested to get your opinion on these modifications if you go through with them....

I have a Spec stage 2 clutch in my 928 and it's grabby and chatters like crazy during engagement (flywheel and intermediate plate are brand new so it's not either of those and it was installed by a 928 Specialist shop so they know what they're doing - it's the friction material used on the clutch and it's the continuous plate not the segmented one). If I had time and wanted to pony up for another clutch pack, it would be one of the first things I'd change. Once the car is moving, it's OK, but getting it moving without just hammering it and dumping the clutch is quite a bit less than OK. Coupling this with a lightweight flywheel might make for a very difficult smooth engagement, especially when starting off from a stop. If it's predominantly a track car, then it may not matter, but if you're in stop and go traffic at all, I don't think you're going to be very pleased with the result.

Purchased Textar front brake pads from eBay for $111. Removed all four wheels and thoroughly cleaned them, and installed the new pads in less than two hours. Have since driven more than 500 miles and am pleased to report that they stop the same as factory pads, make no noise, and put less dust onto my wheels than the original factory pads.

I used the same backing shields and wear sensors that were on the car. The plates were stuck to the pistons and the pads would not initially come out. I used a 2.5" steel putty knife to separate the plates from the pads and then slipped the new pads in. Worked like a champ; didn't even bother to scuff the rotors before installation.

So, I got a lot accomplished and saved what, $900 over a dealer brake job; $129 from Suncoast Part's price for replacement pads.

Photo is with the car and wheels unwashed after about 225 miles of usually spirited driving.
