Buttoned her back up and went for a nice drive after a 2 week layoff to replace plugs, coils and fix two broken PSE vacuum actuators. The latter were discovery items found while I was troubleshooting a loud exhaust rattle and were also the delay while I waited for new parts. First time I've done anything like that on any vehicle, let alone a Porsche. Very satisfied with the results. PSE fully functional - check. Engine misfires resolved - check. Big sense of personal accomplishment - check.

Very nice Nigel!!!
Methinks that you're being conservative re the +2HP per oval! After nearly two weeks away from home and a week in the Sierra, I will fire up the C4S later today and fetch the spousal unit at work...via the long way: Inverness > Tomales > Petaluma > Inverness! :D

Moby's PSE tips were getting a bit beat up:

I figure that's worth about 2hp per exhaust! https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...fc4d5bf725.jpg |

Also, not today, but soon, anyone thinking about doing the rear seat delete and would like the kit from Porsche, see my posting #7 at https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...at-delete.html for more attractive pricing $220 vs. $550.

It was a perfectly fine vehicle, outstanding fuel economy, but OMG what a wonderful feeling it was to take Moby out for a drive when we got home! My wife had the following to say from behind the wheel: "Rrrroaaaaaaaaawwwwww!!!" |
I sold mine yesterday... :(

Hard to believe that it is 85F on the NorCal coast so I finally spent some time with Dr. Colorchip.
It looks like he and I will do the same over the next few days. It seems to be a slow process but it should hide the blemishes after many coats... In the meantime I drove the beast yesterday for the first time in a couple of weeks and the stupid smile is still firmly planted on my face! |
