Sporty, reliable, new and well equipped 7 seaters;
1)consider an MDX, rides well, quite reliable, drives very well with the optional sports suspension and in a pinch could carry wife/kids and friends kids - and you could come out of a 997 and drive it without cursing too much
2) Volov XC 90, well equipped, 2011 comes with a 5 year 60K, 2012 with a 5 year 50K warranty, service and mantainance included. Drives somehwhat slow given it's heft but safe as a tank and a recognized family hauler.I know volvo has it's Bugs but the warrantly should put your worries to rest - and a Subi driver might appreaciate the volvo more. If you need to go for used with some "bling", get a gently used ML or even GL if you need 7 seats and can swing it

+1 MDX - cant beat it for all around esp re: reliability considering this is primarily for wife/kids.

Traded my wife's 09 Cayenne S V8 for an '11 Audi A4 quattro and she loves it. Hasn't looked back both on the Cayenne gas bills and maintenance and says her A4 is more fun an reasonable for her needs than the Cayenne ever was. Now that we've left the snowy east coast it seems like a good deal! Would suggest BMW's but maintenance out of warranty can be painful. We'll see with the Audi but my friend has a 2006 A6 which he's had absolutely NO problems with and from what I've heard and read their quality and reliability has become on par with the other German makers now.

Also agree on the MDX...my best friend's wife is going on her 3rd one and he's now upgraded to an Acura TL from his Honda V6 and cannot say good enough things about them both...me I wish they'd tone down the new grill...looks like the Jokermobile from a Batman movie! LOL

or a Honda Pilot touring...7 seats plus 4wd plus rear entertainment. Plus 1000 on BMW's out of warranty or service warranty. I will get rid of my X5 when the warranty is up! Maybe sooner!

Lexus GX470... great luxury SUV family hauler for up to 5 (7 if you put up the seats in the rear cargo compartment). Has more offroad capabilities then my old 4Runner 4x4 not that my wife would ever let it touch dirt. '09 was the last production year... last production year tends to be the best most reliable. You should be able to fine a nice used one in the $40K+ range.

I know many of you own another car for DD, what would you suggest?
BMW X3 or Audi Q5 is a nice sporty SUV. I have a 09 Cayenne S currently and liked the X5 better.

I have a 2012 Audi Q5 due in 2 weeks. I looked at a Ford Edge Limited and the sticker on it was $44k!!!!! The Edge Sport was even more!!!!! and I could get it for $40-41K....the loaded up Audi Q5 was right at this same price, and it drove and looked much better.

I too liked the Honda Pilot...one of the few I guess that likes it's rugged looks. However the odd thing is the drivers seat does not go back far enough and my knees are in the dash! Also on the highway in real world driving it only gets right at 20mpg and it transfers a lot of road noise into the cabin and I couldn't live with that as there are other SUV's that do much better.

why not get a 2011 Cayenne V6? faster than most every V8 SUV in the market and amazing gas mileage..

i paid $49,500 OTD for mine after discount and selling it for $57,000 in 2 weeks... dont go crazy with the options and it's cheap.. buy it outright and you can flip it for some good money when the time comes.

I would jump at a 2011 Cayenne V6 for $49,500 OTD. What was the MSRP?

I'm looking at this one right now at the local dealer. Will be here in 2 weeks.

Model Cayenne Tiptronic
Order Status ONVESL
Order Type STOCK
Prod Month 8

Cayenne Tiptronic 48,200.00
BDYCLR R6 Sand White .00
TOPCLR R6 Sand White .00
INTERI MA Standard Interior in Black .00
OPTION EXT TPMS .00

What should be a reasonable offer to the dealer? I've heard guys only getting $500 or 2-3% off as these puppies are in super high demand.

Would you take the 2011 X5 over 2011 V6 Cayenne?

Why did you select Q5 over X3?

extensive list! But, I can add that the BMW's can be bought from invoice plus 500-1000. Invoice is 7% of MSRP. Got my x5 diesel loaded MSRP 74k for 63K. ( there is a 3500 eco discount right off the top for the diesel). You could do very well with the X3. X5 size/interior size is not much bigger than the X3. Checkout bimmerfest.com for more BMW info!
