before you powder coat your exhaust tips...
 

One very hot day at the track literally disintegrated all but about 20% of the coating on my car's tips.

They get ceramic treatment tomorrow.

(many of you may already know this risk, but like everything else here, it's all new to me!)

I agree. I went to a powder coating shop and was told to go two doors down to a ceramic coating shop for exhaust tips.

Looks terrific. I have no idea why Porsche has returned to chrome! They left chrome in 1974--supposedly never to return!

yeah - I'd like to give mine the cermaic coating but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle of getting an appointment, dealing with getting away from work, etc.

I used high temperature matte black paint, like the kind you use on gas grills, on my tips. Still looks good and I figure I can repaint it if it fails.

E-Z to get the tips off. Cost was only $40. to get them ceramic coated.

I used a high-temp-exhaust-system clear coat on mine after I had cleaned and polished them up. Four 20 minute track stints melted the coating to glue. They picked up grass and gravel, and when the coating cooled off and solidified again my exhaust tips looked like 40 grit sandpaper. Exhausts get hot!

I used high-temp flat black engine paint. Everyone that sees them think they are ceramic coated...cost $4!

Lots of track high heat abuse zero issues.

In time, shiny parts don't stay shiny!

Where does one go to get a ceramic coating? Do you have to be in a large city?

Love your Borla. Looking closely at joining you. Still happy? Which tips do you have?

I did the same exact thing and they never chipped or peeled. I just scuffed the tip up with some sandpaper and sprayed it on. I used the Duplicolor engine enamel.

Still happy especially along with the X-Cats. I have the larger of the 2 tips available.

I'm getting tired of the sooted up look that my stainless steel tips get, which, when I wash it, end up a mix of dull steel and darkened bits from soot/cooking.

I'm looking to just have the tips ceramic coated with matte black.

What are the good outfits to ship your tips to for quality cleaning and ceramic treatment? (I'm in the Puget Sound region if it matters, but am willing to UPS out my tips for a week.
