Aftermarket Parking sensors

Been doing a little research and am considering getting this setup for just the rear bumper. Was wondering if anyone on forum had good/bad experiences or input.

Looks very interesting. If you proceed, would you please post your impressions, methods and results. Thanks in advance

No experience with that one, but did have poor experience with a unit installed on a '09 Mercedes c300 I used to own. Screwed up door locks and trunk lock mechanism and was not reliable distance wise. I have factory unit on my C4S cab and don't have any on my GT3. IMO, they are a waste of money now that I have experienced having and not having them. If you try them, let us know your thoughts. Take care.

Are you really struggling to park your 175" vehicle?

Okay, now slow your roll there sparky! ;)
This is for the wife that also drives my car from time to time and is NOTORIOUS for bumper scrapes/scratches...

As a matter of fact, I just contacted a local service today to see about them coming out to touch up the family car (Nissan Armada) that has tons of "rubbed" off paint on both front & rear bumpers!

My head rotates fine to see behind the car....

I'm sorry to hear about this. I understand--there is no simple solution.

how about a back-up camera? The only way would be to integrate it to the OEM screen or similar unit.

Hi Ed,

Awhile back I actually found a means to tie an external video source into he existing PCM (997.1) but involved hacking the unit..(open case and soldering...yeah, not going there.... and cost (if I could get it to work) VS ROI just didn't add up...

This aftermarket is under $200 and non-invasive solution so might give it a try. If I do I'll report back and share with all.

Regards
-David

if anybody will be able to install it please confirm if it gets integrated into 997 car bus with no issues.

i wanted to do something like that initially when i got the car but now as i have mods4cars unit and passenger mirror flips down to show the curb usually parking does not present any issues. still such a sensor is a very handy thing in the city.

This particular solution is independent of BUS. All you need is 12+ source and taps hot lead from reverse lamp wire to "activate".

I'm looking for something similar for a 993 to avoid Ladykisses. What was your outcome?

Many thanks

I purchased the unit but have not had the time to do the install. I am also considering upgrading the Piezo speaker with something more substantial. Such as this http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1261 I used this to replace the damaged unit in the Nissan Armada we have.

The only thing I need is time...
:-(

I am also interested in this product. Please report back when you install it.

It's not the size, but the hump on a ragtop does not make for great rearward visibility when attempting to fit into tight spaces.

Truth be told, the car still feels big to me after the Z4.
