Default 997.2 fuel pump - replacement action ongoing.

Brought the 997.2 Targa 4 in for service to track down a grinding noise on startup from the front end as well as install the new multifunction/heated steering wheel in my 6spd from 2009 (~15k miles) and the checking guy indicated there was an outstanding action to replace the fuel pump.

One of the ongoing issues I was going to have them address was a bit of uneven power in the first two minutes of driving and longer cranks to start, so this may well address that.

But it seems that Porsche is addressing the older high pressure fuel pumps on an 'as they show up for service' basis.

I was checking it in; had been to the dealer before. They pulled up my record in their computer and he commented that I had an outstanding recall item (which we know is NOT a recall, as that implies a federally mandated mailing in a red trimmed envelope to your house) on the fuel pump. When I pick up the car I'll provide more details about what was what.

Just took my 09 997.2 C4S coupe for an oil change today, and they replaced the HPFP under this "service action". Dealer was beverly hills Porsche.

Interesting. I took my car in for the 11,000 mile service 2 weeks ago and apparently did not need it. Bailey, remember me? You connected me over to Rusnak. Looks like you and I swapped dealerships. I went to Rusnak and now you go to BH my old spot.

There must be a cutoff date for the recall; anyone know what it is? My S was built in May of '09 so maybe it already has the upgraded pump. Guess I'll have to check with the dealer.

May well be as I thought there was a mid year change with the pump.

My MY09 Targa 4 was built in early October 2008.

It's not a registered letter sort of thing, but not necessarily that either. I got a phone call from my dealer today telling me about the service action.
