Default Question for Porsche Racing Green owners...

I know there's a number of other PRG launch car owners out there...
Have any of you modded your car, appearance-wise?

It's about time for my annual "freshening" of my 2009 C2S (PRG/Sand Beige) --it helps beat the urge to trade-in and upgrade (LOL)-- so I'm debating now getting dark window tinting, and/or maybe black wheels, etc..

Anyone have pics of your PRG car with tinted windows, black wheels, or other changes (spoiler, etc.)? Thanks...

I think that a few changes like those mentioned above could substantially affect the appearance of this Porsche more than most, due to its "Jaguar-like" appearance--

A couple of guys modified the interior of their cars. Below is a link to a thread started by mdrobc1213. He did black mats and black rear center console and shifter surround to play off the black PCM face plate. He also aded black wheels.

PRG with Black interior parts & Black wheels

Someone else recently posted pics of his newly added PRG rear center console, which looks killer on the Sand Beige interior.

Thanks... the interior looks great, I'm going to start with a few small console additions in black, from Suncoast...
But, alas, the black wheels on the dark green do NOT look good, nor does the window tint.

Thanks--this helps a lot! I think I will look for brushed aluminum or turbo wheels instead....

The only thing I've done so far is to swap out the pumpkin lights (after I took the pic to the left). Not sure I like much black against the Sand interior, but more black on the exterior would be great.

Hi. Its me chiming in since it seems my car has been the prototype for PRG mods! LOL

A word on my descision and thought processes on a few of my mod choices.

TINT: Car actually has 35% tint which is about as light as you can get other than going 40% or 50% which basically matches almost what you have from the factory. So tint is actually pretty light...however it does depend on the setting you are viewing it from how dark it may seem from outside the car. Inside its just enough to help diminish some of the sun light but not soo much you can't see out at night or notice a huge difference trying to see out. I've been there before in cars with huge dark tints and at night driving become a problem especially in low light conditions where I have felt like I am driving or ridding in a black paper bag or something. Thus 35% was a nice compromise. Also one must remember the interior is very light (i.e. sand beige) which makes the tint seem lighter too in person and outside. What you are seeing in the pic is the car taken close to dusk in the shade of the house...so the tint looks darker than it is under full daylight. But to NOT tint ones car is also a respectable option as well.

WHEELS:
Okay another personal choice here...lots of guys go with silver and some suggested chrome. Gunmetal was an option also but I did want something a little different from the OEM Carrera II 19" wheels it came with. I went back and forth with silver vs another finish and then I ran across numerous pics of Carrera GT3 RS cars in light green and decided to play off that color combo as well as a few old 993 and earlier Porsche's which I found did sport a darker green and black wheel combo. Liked the uniqueness better as well as the fact that dark wheels do hide brake dust and make cleaning a little easier! Went with BBS CH-R's as they have stainless steel wheel outer rim and will eventually switch out to stainless steel covered lugs (still can't get over the $200 cost) to give the wheels more contrast. Found black caps with silver crests to complete the contrast also. Also I think the black does give more contrast to the car's updated interiors. Would black wheels work better on a red, silver, white, yellow, or all black car...of course but I think PRG also pulls it off too sucessfully.

REAR EMBLEM:
Had Eric at Bumperplugs get me a Carrera S emblem in Satin Black. This matches the interior console I had done and coordinates the wheels and interior more. Wanted to get alot of the silver trim off the car to better coordinate as in reality it didn't go with anything back there and a body colored rear emblem would have been my next choice or I think should have come OEM from the factory. Tried the red S for a while back there but felt "ricer" and too fast and furious for me and out of place in the car scheme so removed it.

INTERIOR: Sand beige sucks! I would never choose it again...picks up every bit of dirt on you and the environment it seems. A darker brown (maybe saddle or terracotta) would be my choice. That said the launch edition is what is is...but like my original posts I think the black trim pieces could be accentuated to make the car look much better and also minimize the dirt issue in the car. So thus I had the rear console custom painted "satin black" as it most closely matched the interior OEM satin trim off the PCM and other black pieces from the factory and then got black side PCM panels and deck lid and retrofitted black and satin PDK and e-brake levers to complete things. Would like a black dash and upper door trim surrounds and even headliner if I could get away with it (well maybe on the headliner)...but we'll see as that starts to get very expensive. However I may still swap out my wheel for a black one to complete the cockpit contrast. What I was looking for is the contrast of black that is seen in the cockpit in most aircraft I've been in (military and civilian) ones I've flow and to better get the flow from the dash as I've seen so well done in alot of other more exotic cars such as Audi R8 or Aston Martin Vantage or even kinda in the Carrera GT! Also I've found it does cut down on dirt..and so far the center console paint has held up very well and mark/scar free with no problems to the finish over the last 10 months!

OTHER MODS: I did update the PCM to add NAV...lost my SAT Radio in the process and working on a work around. Car had PSE put on a week after purchase. Oh and black trunk liners have been added to the front boot. Escort smartcord hardwire done at the dealer and I've toyed with putting an Aerokit and or Carrera S vinyl in black on the lower side rocker panels on it but think for now will leave it alone.

Thoughts...comments are welcome!

Thanks for the pics...the black wheels are growing on me...
I'm thinking of getting my current wheels painted, maybe a gunmetal appearance, not quite so black...
I think the sand beige interior is stunning with the two-tone you created.
I'm thinking of of a little different pattern:

getting black leather, not plastic, for the trim around PDK ****, and then carbon fiber for the rest of the center console, with the black leather armrest. Aluminum parking break handle(like yours). Then get some carbon fiber too on the door trim--that little plastic piece around the handle on both doors...

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to keep the PRG theme going here. I was looking for pics of a PRG car with Carrera Sport wheels, but didn't find any. These wheels were freshly redone to straighten and remove curb rash. They came out great!

How about brushed gold wheels? I think that might look great with Sand Beige interior.

Have not done much to mine other than the tint, which in Vegas is almost a requirement. Looks very dark in the photo but is only 35% We are looking at wheels but not sure what we will choose. Have used some various websites to look at different colors and not sure black is a good choice with this color.

Gorgeous color. Rare and stands out. Personally not a fan of the brown interior. Getting our Green fix on the wife's Merc Jade Green E-Class. (with black interior)

Nice cars gentlemen.

Mine is a Targa 4S in Green. I have a dark black tint on the rear window (light tint on fronts), and also plastidipped the chrome stripe in black. Changed to clear side markers as well.

At some point in the future, I'd like to switch to the Fuchs style black wheels, which I think would go well with the green color.

Not the best picture, I was playing around with one of those cheapo fish-eye lenses on my phone:

I've been tossing around the clear side markers as well, but was unsure how that would look with the PRG.... however, I love the look on your car and sst7250s! Any guidance on the cheapest place to order them?

I got mine from Suncoast, I think they were around $45 for the set. Well worth the price.
