will the wheels of the cayman R fit our 997.2's they look like the gt's centerlock wheels but with bolts. this would look nice without the complications of the centerlock plus i read that they were lightweights

They are 11 pounds lighter that the stock Cayman wheels.
I believe they would fit but the rears are only 10" wide and take 265 tires. Too narrow to properly support the weight of the J-LO butt of the 911, IMO.

Of course, J-Lo + cake (C4) takes 11" rears and the 18" Carrera IVs for the C2 997.2 are 10.5" on the rear...

offsets are too low on cayman/boxter wheels.
911 is like +60 or so. cayman runs around +40 (20mm out further)
car can fit up to 13" in rear, but offset is what is important, not width.

riley's comment is the one i was looking for. offsets are the critical part here. and if the caymans/boxsters are using 40's that wont do for our 911, well unless the wheels are 20mm thinner which is about the 265's. so i guess eveyones comments are spot on. we can actually use the cayman wheels with different offsets but with a sacrifice in the widths of the rears.
