New to me 1987 Targa

I posted this on the 911 Forum:
I have been looking for 3.2 to add to my 997. After six months of looking, I found a fairly clean G50. Pete Zimmermann's book was quite helpful in the search. Drove it 1,100 miles from Peoria, Illinois to Houston with my son. The car ran great. |
Nice!!!!
I was looking for an SC before I bought the 914. Every SC I looked at was a $25K car any way I looked at it (pay $25K for a superioir car or buy one needing work and you'll have $25K in it). I whimped out and bought a show winner 914 for much less than half that! That being said, I will add an SC to my collection in the next couple of years. |
Always love the 80s cars. Had some issues, but I always knew what they were.

WOW! Sharp! Love the whale tail!

I think my 87 G50 was the most fun to drive.

Very cool! I almost bought and 83 SC as I've always wanted an 80's 911.

Very nice. My first was a 85 Targa. Just rode in my buddies 87 Targa. Brought back memories. I'd love to pick one up. I'd go G50.

Nice color combo! Congrats!

Very nice - congrats!
My first 911 was a 1989 Targa, Guards Red with tan interior. Was a blast to drive. Wasn't a fast car (with only 217 HP) but was rock solid stable at high speeds, and a very raw and visceral driving experience. When I was looking for a 997, Guards Red/tan was my first color combo, but I couldn't find one in my price range that I liked. Enjoy! Those late 80's 911s, IMO, are some of the best 911s out there. |
Beautiful car. My first 911 was an '87 with white wheels. Funny thing was I sold it for 23k in 1991 and it would probably be worth more today. Who says these cars are a depreciating asset?

Congrats! I almost bought a 1985 Turbo Look Carrera before I got my 997. I still think about that car and wish I had both. Well done!

Great buy!
