Looking for some "Neutral" opinions on 997 Purchase- Driving myself CRAZY

Glad your considering a 09 S , that I asked why it wasn't an option
I wouldn't just get a Turbo just because its a Turbo...I've been down that road...and back
Be certain you can make use of what its made for. The DFI S cars are very very quick, not sure I would need to be in the sub 4's to get a smile on my face...
My 07 C4S feels quick and is capable of things as a driver, I am not to the level yet.
looks like the neutral concensus is for a 07-09 S

I've been contemplating trading my '07 550i and '00 C2 cab for SOME kind of 997. I've got a few cars in the mix and really would like the help of the forum in making up my mind. Ultimately, I'd prefer to stay ~$80k or below in whatever my choice is. Here are my dilemma options:
'07-8 Turbo coupe. Pros: It's a TURBO love the LED's Cons: PCM2, need to add Sat Nav, Bluetooth
'12 Black Edition Coupe. Pro's: '12 MY vs. much earlier cars, LED's, DFI, I get a NEW car, nice options Cons: last MY for 997, 3.6 engine
'07-'8 CPO "S" car. Pros's: CHEAP. Substantial savings Cons: no LED's, older engine, PCM2
Thanks in advance!

Or you can wait a bit for new 991 models. 'black edition' - it is still a decent car but I would prefer GTS. 06-07-08 'CPO' S car will give you a bit less 'show' factor but very comparable amount of fun.

Black edition is just cosmetic stuff, you can order ALL on a regular car and I am sure you will find a C2 car with MORE/BETTER options than Black edition!
I will pick the Black edition over the 09 C2S. 09 C2S with less than 10m is about the same price as 12’ Black Edition. New car has not history. A lot of P cars have oil burn problem because the 1st owner didn’t break-in right. Some guys have to add oil every 1000 miles. I never have to add oil to my P cars. Just do oil change every 15,000 miles.

IMO opionion if you are looking to flip it in one year the best "financial" purcahse here would be the turbo. The S and black edition (particularly the black edition) are going to get slaughered on the depreciation curve when the 991 arrives in early 2012.

Thanks all. I've all but decided just to wait out the 991. Planning on selling my 550i now to minimize the next ~9 months of depreciation between the two cars. Will solely drive my 996 until then. Kids, at least, are excited to ride in the "race car" every day. Hoping my willpower holds out...

Short term lease on the Black, then get a new 991. They have great MF on 18 month leases right now. You get your new car, no worries about trade in value, then get the 991 in the 2nd year of production.
