Default My GTS turned 1 month old yesterday

So far I have a little over 1800 miles on it. They include a DE at the Fontana infield; a DE at the Pomona fairgrounds track; and an AX at El Toro. In the next month or two it'll go to DE's at Streets of Willow and the California Festival of Speed, 3 days at Fontana. The track there includes about 2/3 of the NASCAR oval as well as the infield road course.

I loooovvve this car!

It's white, but right now it's still so dirty from the Sunday DE (drizzle in the am, damp track for a while) that you can still see the outlines of my door numbers. I'll wash it as soon as I can but I bought it to drive it, not to obsess over it.

My previous car was an '09 launch edition C2S. The new car has 23 more hp; SPASM instead of PASM; AS instead of comfort seats; sticky alcantara instead of slippery leather; 305 PS2's instead of 295 PZeros; and centerlocks. None of those is a big difference, but add up all those increments and the net results is a car that is much more comfortable on a track. Slip it into sport plus mode with PSE on and yahoo! Away we go.

My car is a DD on bumpy roads with steep driveways and speed bumps part of my daily drive, so a GT3 was out of the question. I split my miles about 50/50 between my two cars.

I've no idea if the 991 will be better or worse, but for now I firmly believe this is the ultimate (non-turbo) Porsche road car.

I thought I had the ultimate non-turbo road car for a while; now it seems the GTS is it. I really like the idea of the two wheel drive wide body with a power kit.

Are you worried about break-in with all those DE's? Evidently not.

Nice write-up!
My GTS turned 3 months old yesterday.
I've clocked over 2500 miles in and around Southern California, on every kind of paved road, but no track time.
Having replaced a 2006 C2S with this car, I share your assessment that the GTS is the "ultimate (non-turbo) Porsche road car." ★★★★

My dealership sponsors my PCA chapter's AX/DE events. I've read lots of forum threads about break-in, from "baby it" to "drive it like you stole it." Service manager at dealer said to give it 600 to 700 miles below 4500 rpm. He said it's OK to have brief excursions above 4500 rpm but nothing sustained. He said that helps seat the rings - if you baby it for too long it'll end up being an oil burner. I followed that advice for the first 1K miles, which I hit the night before the first DE. At that point I started to wind it out.

So far, at 1500 miles - original oil is one notch below full.

I figure the car's under warranty. If it blows up they'll have to deal with it and they have an awful lot of experience with cars on the track. So far, so good!

I love to hear these stories. I'm glad you're loving your GTS - I know I love mine, even if I haven't been able to put those kinds of miles on it or have any track days yet. I think this quote is very appropriate:
