Certain Variants of 997.1 and 997.2 will hold residual better than others if you want to get that exact.
Targa's , Targa 4S, 4S, Cab's, its supply and demand as well.
I think it would be hard to use historical fact with Porsche if your going back to the 996. Even though initial sales were huge, the design change of the 05 997 wrecked values of the 996 just from a looks stand point. Engines were basically the same.
I don't think you can use 993's and 964's due to the production numbers being so low, and farther you go back the car pretty much kept the same design and low production figures.

Yep. Lots of black and silver. A little bit of white and red. Other colors are very rare.

Personally I love the way the car looks in green ever since I saw this photo, but it's impossible to find.

There are 8 Porsche Racing Green launch cars for sale. Search on the Porsche pre-owned web site.

because it likely is not

as most people will tell you, by the latest (newest) car you can afford

While I do believe the .2 is an improved car over the .1, I can not find the so called "facts" you mention regarding the .2 base PDK beating a .1 S 6 spd.

These are the quickest 0-60 times that I have found for the .2 Base PDK and .1 S 6 spd:

Car and Driver: 997.2 Base PDK 0-60 in 4.1 secs
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...carrera_page_2
Road and Track: 997.1 S 6 spd 0-60 in 4.1 secs
http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/co..._gt3_rs_page_4
Road and Track: 997.1 S 6 spd 0-60 in 3.9 secs
http://www.roadandtrack.com/content/...s-Car_spec.pdf

Given the data points above, I'd expect a .1 S 6 spd to still beat a .2 base 6 spd. But the .2 base PDK is very similar to the .1 S 6 spd according to published magazine test results.

Huh, interesting, they're all 2009's and they're all PDK's, so they never showed up in my searches. Looks like they're all identical spec green with sand biege. This was a 997.2 launch spec I guess? Unfortunately I still like to row my own gears.

911's on the PCNA search :

977 total
280 black
231 silver
152 grey
98 white
77 blue
77 red
19 green
19 yellow
4 orange

R&T and Car&Driver always seem to have quicker 0-60 times than the European Magazines. Some have said that you have to be extremely brutal on the car to get that kind of 0-60 time.
IIRC The American magazines had my 03 996 TT X50 0-60 at 3.9 and that was 450HP..
