Default 5 yrs 75k warranty

I can purchase a Platnum Warranty for 5 yrs 75K miles from todays date for $1783 w/$250 deductable, from my Credit Union , its from Cuna Mutual.
My shop in STL, Reid Vann ,said they honor those warranties, but they like Fidelity Warranties..

Any experience with Cuna Mutual ?

That sounds very cheap. I was being quoted roughly $1200 per year from both an aftermarket warranty used by a Porsche dealership and by my credit union.

that is freaking CHEAP. I would ask:
1. IS there a max per hour labor reimbursment rate?
2. Is it transferrable?
3. What is the financial strength of the underwriter?

lastly, for a little more i would get the 7year/75k coverage. $319 for extra 2yr is worth it to me.

Yes fully transferrable, labor rate is negotiated between the shop and the company, also the company has been in business for 40 yrs.
My concern would be the warranty company only wants to pay $60 hr and the shop wants $100 and the shop will start refusing to use the warranty company for future repairs. they could not tell me if there was any max per hr labor.

My quoted rates were

3 year / additional 36k miles $3699
4 year / additional 48k miles $4861
5 year / additional 60k miles $6827

That's 5* bumper to bumper. However the rates are dependent on the car's mileage and mine's done 40k already. I don't want to pester them with what the rates would be for a car with only 10k miles.

The key question is what is covered under the warranty and what kind of warranty is it? Some warranties specifically list what IS covered and anything not listed is not covered. Others specifically list what is NOT covered and everything not listed is covered. The latter is the better of the warranties. What kind of warranty it is has a drastic impact on the price. I would look into the coverage quite a bit. Ive used Warranty Direct in the past because they are like the latter and were great to deal with.

Those are great prices.

I am going with Fidelity Warranty (www.fidelitywarrantyservices.com) for my extended warranty contract. They do cover IMS and RMS failures (and the resulting damage) under their basic Powertrain coverage. Pricing depends upon you car year and mileage. As a reference point I have a 2005 997S with 12K miles and the basic coverage for 4 years/additional 48,000 miles is $2277. Not bad considering the cost of an IMS failure.

For an extra $600 I basically will get total car coverage for many many other items. I am buying this through a local Porsche dealer in NJ. All warranty work can be done by Porsche or any "Legal Repair Shop that is ASE CERTIFIED" per the contract.

That's crazy cheap and sounds like an amount you'd pay to extend the factory warranty from 4 to 5 yrs and the mileage from 50k to 75k. dave

You guys might look into this company. The price is great, my CU does not inflate the price and I was charged the cost only. I have all the paperwork on what is and what is not covered. Normal wear items are NOT covered ,and body panels, tires, aftermarket & performance upgrades are not covered. Also not covered, Tune ups, EGR valve, batteries, filters, hoses, belts, brake pads, rotors,CV boots, shocks, exhaust, clutch,Glass.
Must change oil every 6 months/6k miles, check PCV, steering fluid, drive axle fluid, lub suspension, chk coolant. Keep receipts .

Glad to fax you the info and brouchure. I'm going to give my shop in STL, a copy of the warranty to keep on hand for me as well.

Pewter, i would get this deal since this deal is only for members + its affordable.

I think everyone here knows the retail markups on on these warranties.

Pewter, I would get the $0 deductible. It's $1000 more initially, but 4 repairs @ $250 deductible and you break even. That's one trip to the dealer every 15 months...quite likely you'll have more than that.

Also, the wear-and-tear exclusion cuts down the value of the warranty considerably.
