if you've got a DFI and the fuel pump is gone, it won't do anything.

Need more info. Does the engine crank when you turn the key? If so, then you don't have a battery problem and jump starting won't help. If it doesn't turn over, then yes you can jump start it. Look in the manual for instructions, but I expect it to be the standard practice of red cable to positive cable, and black cable to ground.

Thanks...the engine does crank. I called Porsche roadside assistance, they are sending somebody to either jump start the car or take it to the dealer. But they told me that sometimes the battery may have enough charge to turn on the lights and the radio and so on, but not enough to start the engine.

If the battery can crank the engine over, it's not the battery. Your fuel pump may be going bad.

I also had a dead battery recently. I used a charger to start. I was on an incline and was wondering if I could let the car roll and pop the clutch in second gear. This always worked in older cars that were stick shift.

it was the battery...Porsche replaced it under warranty...would not expect less in a car that is only 15 months old with 8k miles. Otherwise, $375...ouch!

Battery issues are not uncommon in new cars, particularly german cars, that spend more time sitting than being driven. imho, it seems you folks need to spend less time making money, working, being with family and generally stand up people of society and more time wasting your day driving what you worked so hard to achieve Glad to hear you got it fixed.. how many batteries will porsche replace under warranty?

And when you actually do need to pay for a replacement battery, do yourself a favor and find replacement for less than $100. There are many equivalent units out there of similar quality. They just don't have the Porsche logo on them.
