Exterior Carbon Fiber Mods and Rear LED Lights From ROTtec

Here are pics of the carbon fiber front lip, side mirror trim and rear diffuser on my 997.1. New rear LED's brings in a cool modern update without having to buy a 997.2!

Looks great! Are you finding the front lip gives clearance issues?

dw.metro 02-09-2011 01:49 PM

Thanks! I haven't experienced any problems with clearance. A lot will depend on the road conditions in your city. Ray from ROTtec can tell you exactly the height of the lip. His email is info@rotteccarbon.com.

dw.metro,

I think the CF pieces look good, tasteful, understated, fitting. Clean design. The lip and the diffuser complement each other and the CF on the mirror provides a touch in between. The rear diffuser looks good between the Sport Exhaust tips. My car is also Artic Silver so it's easy for me to appreciate.

Can you please post a couple more pics of that diffuser from different angles. I'm not sure I get how it fits. Is the silver underneath painted to match your car and part of the diffuser?

I'm not a big fan of LED lights in general, but your CF bits look GREAT!

well done, very understated - not obnoxious - really love the mirror trim (what vendor?)

as far as clearnace goes, I find that I've turned into a scraper

if you add and aero feature to the front, dont you need to also add it to the back to not upset the handling ??
You will now have more downforce on the front at higher speeds, right ?

I like those rear LED's, but could not find them on rotteccarbon site, where did you buy them?

I'm not an engineer but I doubt that my rear will lift with the way I drive. The front lip only drops the front by 1.5" at most.

Thanks! Vendor for the mirror trim is ROTtec. So far, scraping the front lip hasn't been a problem for me but that will depend on your road conditions. BTW, love your car and especially the colour. I test drove it when we were in Chicago last November. You beat me to it!

Is drilling required on the OEM parts for installation?

cvazquez 02-09-2011 07:24 PM

Is this really a diffuser, I don't see the difference between the OEM and Carbon part (aero design)?

Yes, drilling is required. Two screws to be exact beside the muffler tips. These on non-oem carbon pieces.

Nice touch with the black lobsters. What type of specialty shop did you use to get your wheels colored black?

Thanks! The company who painted them are Nu-Brite Industries located in Surrey, BC, Canada. Cost was $600. The color is Porsche Basalt Black.
