Default 997.2 Transmission Fluid Leak – Need advice

I took the car in to the dealer for first service yesterday. During inspection, the mechanic found transmission fluid leaking onto the engine cover. Says it is a slow leak coming from a bad flange. They ordered the part from Germany and said it will take 4 to 6 weeks. They completed the 10k service and had me take the car home. They will replace flange when it arrives. They told me it was safe to drive the car and not let it sit for 6 weeks. Would you drive the car? Has anyone else had an issue with transmission fluid leak on a 997.2?

I would not hesitate to drive it. If they had ANY doubts about it not being safe to drive they would have said so. They know that if something does happen they are on the hook for the repair because they told you it would be OK to drive it.

If it was my car, I would drive it like I stole it!

Is your car a 6 speed or PDK? I had my 997/2 PDK in for service yesterday, they discovered the very same problem, said it needed a new oil pan. Porsche has their west coast parts depot 15 miles from my dealer. They were able to order the parts, take delivery, and get the job done the same day. So maybe there are parts in the country for your job too.

Mine is PDK. I asked if they had the part locally and was told it had to be ordered from Germany. Not sure if we have the same problem, mine is leaking transmission fluid not oil. I wish it was, then maybe it would have been resolved that day.

Mine was a transmission fluid leak - I said "oil pan" in error. There's some kind of "fluid pan" with the PDK and that's what they replaced. Good luck and I hope they find a way to shorten your wait.
