I looked into this a number of years ago. Available data are anecdotal:

Incidentally, my view of the current problems with Toyota is that they may just be an artifact of how many cars are on the road. A low frequency safety issue will only be detected when the sample size is large. I would be willing to bet that other vehicle's safety problems have not emerged, only because they aren't as popular.
