MB 2010 E63 AMG

Anyone here own a recent edition of the E-class AMG or better yet the 2010 model? I would like to solicit your opinion on how well they drive, practical for shuttling kids to after school activities, and whether they can handle being driven in wintry slippery conditions, assuming stock tires get swapped for winter tires. Many thanks. -J

Shoot, my bad, i meant to post this on off-topic. I do not know how to retract or change its placement after the fact. Sorry. I am an idiot; my mother told me so.

I have a last gen E63 and it's a great car for work (taking clients around) and doing errands. I live in Las Vegas so I can't help you with the snow question. From what I've read, the new E63 is a lot better with the double clutch tranny and suspension is a lot more sporty. The updated styling is also a lot better than mine too IMHO. But if I was in the market for a near 100k sedan I would look at the Panamera 4S especially if you need a car that will be driven in the snow.

+1 on the Panamera 4S.

Very good looking sports sedan.

Your stated reqs lead to a Panamera 4S. The E-AMG need not apply. :)

I own the original W210 E55 AMG, bought it new 9 years ago and the car has been solid as a rock. The car will be replaced within the next 2 years, I'd like to keep it at least one more year so it can hit its 10th birthday.

Aside from my lust for a Boxster Spyder (as noted in a separate thread), the leading candidate is the new F10 BMW 5 Series. With the 911 C2S in the garage, neither I nor my better half needs an AMG, M5, or Panamera. A BMW 550 or 535 should have enough power to satisfy.

Regarding Mercedes, while my old E55 has been super reliable and runs good as new, their reputation has gone way way down in terms of over all reliability. I don't think I'd go for one of their current offerings. Plus, I'm into having more curves from a styling perspective. I don't care for the square edged look that's in vogue at MB today.

About as good looking as Rosie O'Donnel in a mud wrestling contest.

^ Leno said that the Panamera is not as ugly in person.
E63 rocks, depending on your needs I her they will have a wagon later in the year.

I've seen it in person at the showroom in multiple colors, and last week in black driving on the street- it looks like a bloated LED happy station wagon/sedan mutt.

I'd rather have an E63 AMG. BTW I test drove the last model in 2008 and it was a serious machine, even for an automatic very nice car.

Well, she may be considered hot. If you're walking around blind without a cane.

The Panamera is a sharp car, imho.

I really like the Panamera. Probably go for that over a Mercedes. There really aren't any "pretty" sedans apart from maybe the Aston (not out) and the Maserati (can you spell depreciation). You cant tell me that a E class Mercedes is better looking than a Panamera. I think people slam the Panamera a bit because they simply dont want Porsche to make a sedan (same as the Cayenne argument).

Drive em all and then decide. GL.

Rode in a Panamera Turbo for a hot lap (okay, it was wet, more like a warm lap) at the end of a PSDS day a few weeks ago. I maintain that it is an unattractive car, but Jesus, that thing moves. And the interior is great.

The new E63 is an amazing machine luxurious and fast, it's like a living room on wheels hopped up on steroids.
But if you drive it in slippery winters you're better of going with a 4 matic.

I stopped by my local Porsche dealership today and they sold their Panamera Turbo for $170,000. That's an expensive car!
