Turn off my radio
OK,
I know it has to be a simple answer, but... I guess I'm not that bright. I can turn off or maybe mute the radio using the left **** on the PCM, but once I turn off the car or PCM, and then restart either, the radio is back on and playing, even if I was using an iPod previously. I just want to be able to start the car or PCM without the radio coming on. What am I missing?

Sometimes if I shut my car off with the radio going, when I re-start the car it starts playing the CD. And if I push the trip info display (TRIP button) the radio turns on, and I have to turn the volume down and press the TRIP button again to get the mileage display. The manual for the PCM is pretty spotty so it seems...or else my unit is faulty.

It may depend on the personal memory settings you set. In my case if I leave it on a given source it will wake up on that source. If I turn it off it will be off.
PCM3 is not free of bugs though and the manual is poorly written.

Kosmo,
Regardless of the audio source previously selected, the radio turns on and starts playing when the PCM is powered on. (through engine start or powering on the PCM). It's annoying in that if I just want to listen to the flat 6 or iPod, and use the nav, I have to turn off the radio first. Am I the only one having this problem? Or are others in the same boat. (Is it my particular PCM or something I need to setup somehow?)

ADias,
You're saying that if you double click the left button (volume) it turns off the stereo, but not the PCM, or does it kill both? I've got a '09 997.2.

Sadly, the mute function is layer deep into the button smashing. If you had ordered the multifunction steering wheel you can mute it with one press of the left roller wheel and be done with it. Alas, you don't know that when you're ordering these cars. I understand the mute is harder to reach on the PCM3 cars.

The correct answer is that you can't turn the radio off if you have Bluetooth. As explained to me by the salesman, it's a quirk to the 09's at least. The radio is technically always on, you can only mute it, in order for the Bluetooth to always be on also... The programmers coupled them.
If no BT, then you can turn the radio off.
