How To: Jacking up a 997 safely, securely
#106
Has anyone used this spot on the body to jack the front up? It looks like that's what is mentioned in the Pelican 101 Projects book. It seems logical. It's night next to where the front sub frame bolts up. I just get paranoid about jacking uni body cars up by the body and judging by the length of this thread, I imagine i'm not the only one. You can see the Pelican book (yellow arrow) vs where my ratchet handle is pointing

You also don't need two jacks (as advised in that video) - I drop my rear tyre on to a brick to give the rear enough height/clearance to get the jack under there.

Thanks to OP and this thread, I was able to safely raise my 997 enough to get under it with a creeper to change my manual transmission fluid. I used a Harbor Freight Daytona low profile 3 ton jack with a 20" range,
, and
to fit well into the factory jacking points, from Amazon.
Just remember to lift up one side of the car at a time, exactly as shown in this thread. If you put jacks under both front jackpoints first, it will make the rear too low to get the jack under the rear bumper.

I've been using two of these for the rear https://safejacks.com/products/the-r...ck-single-unit with the 997 jack point pads and two HF stands for the front. A little pricey but they work well. They allow you to use the jack once on each side.

I switched to JackPoint jackstands and couldn't be happier. I use them for the rears and generic jackstands for the front.
One-jack lift per side is enough - you can lift the rear enough to place jackstands under the front.

I used to have the RennStand and I too saw that the rubber flap was being crushed. My car was lowered, so I wasn't able to use those stands for long.
