I LOVE my cab. I live in Vegas and Laguna (So Ca).

I was driving topless today in Vegas. Beautiful day.

This Tuesday/Wednesday I'll be topless in So. Ca at the beach. Doesn't get any better.

I live in South Cal as well. You can't beat top down driving. The only trade-off is torsional stiffness on track days. Cab S is such a performer, you probably won't even notice it.

I've always had a cab. In Sc, you can drive it 7 months out of the year top down. I've been on the fence recently about wanting a coupe or targa, but I love my cab! I just started using the windscreen and it is the best. It's going to start get chilly in the am and it will be great with the heated seats. I've even noticed it doesn't mess up my hair with the windscreen!!! Yeah! Now, the only thing I want is an exhaust that sounds good!

Geography is an important factor as this thread suggests. You need sufficient annual good weather to enjoy the Cab to its fullest. I find that open air driving is best avoided during the heat of the day, but otherwise early mornings and evenings are a delight. Wife and I often just take a 30-40 min alfresco drive in early evening by the ocean. The A/C in my Cab is fully up to the S. Florida heat and humidity. I had a 99 2.5 Boxster and the A/C was also always up to the task. Now my DD 83 Mercedes 380SL's AC is another story.

I'm wondering if there are actual SPL (sound pressure) measurements of the coupe vs Cab!? In my limited tests with a decidedly inarticulate ear, I could swear the Cab is quieter until you get up to hwy speed.

I don't think I would ever get the same pleasure out of a coupe... there is nothing like a cab!

I own a GT3 and a Cab and have no intentions of being without the Cab or the GT3 for that matter.

My limits are around low 40's F if sun out and not much cross wind. 90's plus sun not so much especially if traffic. But on those days the mornings and nights are great. Top closed a/c handles triple digit temps fine (had plenty this summer).

On my 3rd cab.... I love it, also have a blast at the track with it.
My skill level (PCA blue run group) doesn't find the lack of rigidity to be an issue, nor would 95% of all Porsche owners IMO.

Just took a cab "S" pdk for a drive. Looks like I may have to get me one! Just have to figure out the particulars (find a car, negotiate, trade in existing car or sell pvt party) I would think that the inventory of 09's is probably not too vast. Do you think the incentives that Porsche has going will extend beyond the 30th? My car is free/clear & just thinking out loud. I've been hearing of 25K off sticker from other rennlisters. What's the real world out like there when it's time to pull the trigger? Thanks!

My sentiment exactly, in fact, I enjoyed both of my cabs on the track for 4 years until I switched to a GT3.

It's like there was no roof at all sometimes! Sheesh. Dealer should have told me that would happen.

Nothing povides the real sports car experience like a cabriolet; that's all I've ever owned. If you really want to track the car just get the optional hardtop. Or . . . you could get a 996 hardtop which will fit a 997 and retrofit the hardware. Lots of dealers have 996 hardtops in stock that buyers who didn't want the top when it was standard left with them. A retrofit is about half the cost of what the hardtops now cost as an option. Do a search and yoou'll find a post I made about my experience buying and retrofitting a 996 hardtop on a 997.
