I think that bubbles form in the oil (froth) and compromises its lubricating properties.

DO NOT OVERFILL...you will get oil by passing places and could be thrown back up into the intake. Serious overfill can ruin seals.

Just run the car until the low oil light comes on and add a quart. You are fine with the way you did it by checking and rechecking.

I do agree with everyone and I hope PORSCHE READS THIS THREAD....the new Porsche 2009 Oil Level Indicator has some serious issues. Between the Oil Level Indicator and the fact the new Porsche DFI engine burns a lot of oil, has extreme amount of exhaust soot, especially compared to other modern engines sometimes I am not so sure about this new Porsche.
