Default Sunroof Question

When the sunroof is in the tilt-up position there is a piece of flexible black plastic that is revealed. I noticed it is only on the right side (at least on my car). It seems to be getting chewed up and torn by the opening and closing of the sunroof. Has anyone else noticed this issue? I'm also wondering what the purpose of this piece is since it is only on one side.

Along the sides of the panel toward the inside of the car? It should be on both sides and not tattered. There's also a stiff plastic bit toward the outside of the car as well about 1inch apart from the flexible inner part. I suspect both are designed to block air from the sides probably for noise reduction or some other aerodynamic purpose.

How old is your car?

Yeah, it's definitely only on the right side on my car and looking pretty ragged. The dealer fixed a small dent on the sunroof that the car had when I bought the car new in July. I'm suspecting they must have screwed it up when they took it apart. Thanks for the info.
