This thread brings back some awesome memories. I purchased the car from Toomey back in 2009. I don’t drive it as much as I should, it has about 38k on it now. I have not had any issues with the ims in the time that I owned it, but the dealer did replace the motor under warranty trying to chase down a rattle. I assume they replaced with the latest design then. I am no expert on ims but think the entire engine needs to be torn apart to replace the bearing on this motor. I do not have plans to do that.
Toomey was a great seller and the car has been fantastic. No regrets.

The problem I have with posts like "No mention of IMS correction" is that it perpetuates the fear that all 997.1 engines are doomed unless the IMS is dealt with proactively with an aftermarket solution. To me, it is like saying all 997.2 9A1 engines are doomed and have been sentenced to early death because Porsche went back to Alusil cylinder liners, allowing the bottom of the cylinder bores to shrink inwards, reducing the piston clearance, causing bore scoring and eventual catastrophic engine failure on a chilly morning.
My point is, follow correct service and warm up procedures on any generation of 997, and you will have many years and miles of enjoyment. I have seen a couple (and read of many more) street driven 997s surpassing 200K miles on original Porsche engine internals. Personally, I am at 87K miles in my 2006 X-51 powered C4S, and do not burn a drop of oil between services, no extra soot on one exhaust tip vs. the other, no abnormal tickin, etc.

How about a 2006 C4S X51 with PCCB's, TechArt VarioPlus, TechArt steering wheel, full exclusive leather, sport chrono, bose, exclusive paint, sport seats and XRR wheels?
86,500 miles on the odo. Oil changes like clockwork.
Not looking to sell, just curious.

the one on BAT with 1/2 the mileage went for $50k. Maybe $40 or a bit less? Hard to say, higher mileage cars are a bit tougher to value as most people steer clear. They represent great value for the right buyer.
