Unfortunately, these numbers can be somewhat misleading, with the release of the MY09 997.2 cars, comparing a Carrera S to a Carrera is more appropriate. I wouldn't every judge this stuff purely by the numbers.

I guess the cessation of the first mile programs has really killed it for the dealers...Wouldn't Porsche rather subsidize the sale of new cars than not sell new cars. They are after all still the most "profitable" car company, despite PAG's woes. The dealer will really have a tough time keeping the lights on if this continues.

It would be ironic indeed if the man who saved the independence of Porsche in the 90s (Wedeking) is same man who becomes responsible for Porsche becoming the tenth brand of VW.

Not surprised. Dealers were offered incentives from Porsche through June 1. But, with heads in the sand in some cases, these dealers offered trinket sums off list price to lure customers. Customers knew about the incentives, and realized they were being put down by the dealers, and therefore did not buy.

I know this first-hand from at least 3 dealers, although many were worth their salt trying to move inventory AND include that incentive in any discount to a potential buyer. But if the few I know about were the majority style, many dealers did not use the incentives to their best.

Oh well, good luck Porsche...I really hope things turn around for the brand soon. I love the cars, but hate the buying experience.

I was shopping for a Cayenne the past few weeks and was in a dealer locally who said he hadn't sold a new car in three months!!

Another dealer also told me that all incentives are now finished for July and going forward. No more 1.9% apr etc.

Those numbers are just plain frightening - frightening signs of the economy, and pretty scary for our favorite car company.

I can guarantee you the share holders only care about those numbers. That's just terrible! Let us hope that things improve soon. Overall it seems that people with money aren't spending it and that is a major factor in all luxury good markets and categories.

There is a great deal of uncertainty in today's economy which if further compounded by the policies of the current administration. Even if the economy recovers in the next 12 months we are all going to get hit with higher taxes. Higher taxes mean less disposable income which translates into a prolonged recession.
