Agreed, the M3 is the best.

I think his friend is looking for more luxury, an Audi S5 might fit the bill or Jag XkR or Mercedes SL.

Sounds like he's the perfect BMW squid. I'm with the rest of the gang here. M3, or possibly even a nice CPO M5.

(note to self, stop day dreaming of a bmw you idiot!)

I drove three different variations (coupe (automatic), convertible and "sport" model ( 6 speed) back to back. Stunning cars to look at and you will get a lot of attention. Not as much fun to drive. Great to cruise in. When I finished driving the last one I couldn't wait to get back to my 911 to go home.

I biased, but M6. I've driven the new M3 and it is a fantastic car, but if your friend wants power, GT ride and room for 2 in the back, M6. BMW is giving away these cars right now and that includes M driving school which is a blast! I, however, miss the Porsche drive and sounds, and am coming back as soon as I can get rid of my M6.

Not the one I drove on the 19s. I'd say it was at least as stiff as the 997.2 C4S we had.

I agree, after having Michelins on my C4S and now Bridgestones on the TT, the ride is significantly quieter but they are new and Michelins got noisier as the mileage increased.

I would tell your friend to drive the Audi S5, I would have bought one as my DD last summer but refused to pay 5k over sticker. I imagine paying over MSRP is over for now though...The only other sports car I would consider would be the Corvette or Audi R8. Just my .02

Audi S5 is in the frame, but there's a 3-4 month delivery wait. The Shaguar may get a second look.

S5 + stick + Black + Tuscan Brown + loaded. Actually I very nice car to drive if you can live without the sharp responses of a 911.

I love the way the s5 looks but it only puts out 350 horses out of a V8. Dont you guys think that it is underpowered compared to M3 V8. Don't even get me started about the AMG v8.
So do we have to wait for the RS5? I don't understand why they could not have given it more oomph.

And it sucks gas on top of it, almost makes the E92 M3 sensible.
