Tooki for PCM

Anyone want to share updates on their long-term (or however long) experiences with the Tooki bluetooth for the pcm? Would be interested to know how it is working out as a substitute to the denison or porsche module.

I know the first batch was buggy, but maybe those issues have all been worked through.

Issues I think others had were: address book loading issues, cold weather issues, trouble linking with certain phones, voice mail calling, others?

Dan it won't work w/ yours.

Not the 997, but just YOURS!! ;)

It's got some bugs but for the most part it works. I need to send it back for an update or two, however. I sure like having the capability with the car.

Mine has worked great. Going on about a year now.
Use with a blackberry curve.

Tooki will not work with red/black interiors. Sorry.

j/k :D

Your sig says '03 C4S but your avatar is 997....hmmmmmm

Can help with both Tooki and/or Dension if you need anything answered: eric@bumperplugs.com

i never got it to work with a windows mobile phone - but i stopped trying a while ago. no way could i recommend it. i ended up having to get a motorola razr and leaving it in the car with it's own phone number. definately cheaper than having the porsche module :-)

Thanks. It appears that some of the remaining issues are really phone and carrier dependent.

Thanks Eric, will do. (and I updated my sig, nice catch)

Stoppie - go get a taco. :burnout:

Dan....what phone and service provider do you have now?

We have installers in the DC area who might be able to help with any questions too. And we do offer both the Dension and Tooki application. :) Happy to try to get answers for you, even if you don't buy. :)

eric, since you offer both dension and tooki, what are the advantages of one over the other? one you'd recommend over the other?

Edgy01 10-31-2008 02:31 AM

I have my old Razr with ATT

If you only need or want Bluetooth, and have no desire for iPod integration, Tooki will solve that problem.

If, on the other hand, for about the same money, or just a small bit more, you want both iPod and Bluetooth, Dension.

Feature-wise, similar functionality.

DanJK 10-31-2008 10:48 AM

Eric,
I have an iphone with att.

I might be slow, but the Denison website leaves a lot unsaid and unexplained.

To get the functionality that you mentioned - ipod/iphone for tunes and telephone what products are recommended?

For both, does the oem pcm control all the functions - dialing, address book, songs, playlists, etc.

Thanks.

d

Yeah, don't bother with the Dension website. But our site order page has some details on the right, just click it for more info.

The issue for you is this: if you plan to use the iPhone as a single device for both iPod and Phone function, the iPod supercedes all other functions. If it's plugged in (as an iPod) it will provide your music. But it will not shut off and function as a phone while it's plugged in.

The best setup is a dedicated iPod for iPod function, then use your iPhone as a phone for the BTA bluetooth function.

Make sense?

Yes, PCM control for both. I'd suggest you get the Dension combo unit on our site, that gives you the main Gateway 500 unit and the BTA1500.

Just wanted to share some positive feedback with Tooki's support.

I had the Porsche GSM SIM card solution with the 997, wasn't happy with keeping two numbers, installed NavTV's Tooki over a year ago.

Have been relatively happy since, having the unit paired up with my BlackBerry phones and a Motorola Razr V3m. Didn't bother doing any updates as the solution worked most of the times, and the upgrade was a pain (they didn't have Mac update solutions).

Last week, I replaced the V3m with a Motorola W385 phone which is newer. Pairing kept disconnecting and so it was time for a new software update on the Tooki.

Tony from NavTV replied to my web inquiry within 24 hours, and he called me back, walked me through step by step for 30 minutes, all problems resolved.

Best of all, the software update was done on an iBook with Mac OS. Tested the new voice dial feature, very impressive.

Very happy didn't have to use Windows at all for the upgrade.

Good job NavTV/Tooki team!

I had trouble with an old motorola razr, and have not been able to upgrade the software (haven't called Tony, though he offered to walk me through it in an email). Works very well with iPhone. No problems. Except my Rogers carrier is displayed as "OGERS" on the screen. I have been able to live with that.
