Default Short shifter option

Does anyone have the factory short (sometimes called sport) shifter installed on their 997? How much shorter throws does it give you? How close is it to the factory shift linkage in the 997 GT3? Thanks in advance

I had the option in my '05 S
Throws are shorter.
1-2 shift when cold can be difficult (stiff)
It is NOT the same as the GT3
GT3 is very rifle bolt like

Thanks, and yes as both a shooter and a GT3 owner I would agree. Unfortunately I do not get to drive my GT3 very much. If you happen to visit the GT3 forum you have read where my '07 is in for its fourth RMS in 11 months and 3800 miles. Its been in the shop a total of 7 weeks over its life for RMS and some other issues. When I have, what a blast. Are you on the original rear main seal, and what is your oil pressure at say 2700 RPM with the engine at operating temp?

Ordered it in my 06 and like it very much. Many say that the range diff. is not significant.

I bought the B&M SSK from eric at bumper plug very satisfied, and 1/4 the cost of the P-car option I believe (or thereabouts) Hated the stock shifter length, and this one is way more engaging

My car has it. Nothing to compare to but my setup is nice and I will order my next car this way. I also like the way the shifter **** is elongated and it goes down the handle so you can choke up on the shifter. In a BMW, I always have my hand on the shifter ****. On the Porsche, I always grab the shifter closer to the pivot and put my thumb on top, and almost never grab the **** with the palm of my hand. I could accomplish this method without the short shifter I guess, but this set up works very well and I like it.

Have it as a factory option on my 07 997TT and highly recommend it. It gets better with time. Jeff

I ordered it as a factory option on my '07 and I'm very happy with it. So much that I replaced the stock shifter in my Boxster with the Porsche SSK.

I'd say the throws are about 40% shorter than stock.

As MJones said, shifting to first when cold can be stiff and sometimes I have to let the clutch out and try again for first at stop lights. I don't do this in my Boxster, but that car has 29K miles so I expect this to loosen up with time.

I have it on my 2008 997S.

Grabbing 1st and the 1-2 shift can sometimes be notchy when the gearbox is cold. However, once warmed up... it's beautiful.

I don't know how much (% wise) shorter the shifting is but I think that it's night and day when I drive my buddy's non-SSK 05 997S.

I installed my SS myself (Porsche kit). A lot nicer than stock but not the same as a GT3. C2S with SS does not seem to be as bad as the RS when cold though.

Default "Sport" shifter option vs. B & M SS kit

I too have the SS "sport option" on my 997 4S and enjoy it. I agree that the 1st to 2nd when cold is stiff but when it gets warm it is fine.
Is there a difference between the OEM SS and the B and M SS kit? Some have said it is a shorter throw and smoother......what do you guys think?
Thanks!!

My Sport Shifter option that I ordered on my car is no longer stiff from 1st to 2nd when cold.

It used to be. But no more. It's really sweet now.

Default Anyone added Evo shift link with the B&M?

Saw them as the pair at bumperplus - wondering if anyone went with the evo link at the same time.
