I lied. I couldn't wait.
I have to eat my hat. After responding to a 09 997 thread the other day I stated that I could wait for the 09 refresh. Oh well, never say never. I just purchased a gorgeous 08 C2-S with the following spec: I pick it up on Saturday.
Basalt Black Metallic Standard leather Power Seat Pkg Carerra Sport Wheels Porsche Crest in headrest Seat belts - guards red Self dimming mirrors Sport Chrono Bose I happened to be looking at a thread that referenced a car for sale near me. My first thought was , thats my car, or at least what i was planning to configure for my 09. Only difference was that i wanted PSE and full leather. I could have passed on the red belts but what the heck. Anyway I contacted the dealer, made an offer, they accepted and I bought the car. It boiled down to the fact that I'd have to wait until probably September/October, according to 3 dealers, before I could get an 09. Thats 6 -7 months that I could be driving and enjoying my new 997. The refresh didn't appear to be too dramatic appearance wise and if the DFI produces more power it will probably be in the 15-25 range. I can probably perform intake/exhaust/chip mods that will get me close if I choose. In any event the savings I received were substantial and i can't wait to drive my new car. I don't think i made a mistake. Thoughts?? Sorry for the long post but I've been trolling this site ever since i bought my new Cayman S in 06 (now sold) and have appreciated the the great info provided by rennlist members. Thanks to all for your help in allowing me to make an informed decision. I can hardly wait until Saturday!! :jumper::jumper: |
Sounds like a nice car.
POST PICS!!! Enjoy. |
The extra 6 months+ of enjoyment is well worth it!

Congrats! What color interior? Basalt with Carrera Sports will look bad to the bone. We'll be looking for pics Saturday evening. I'm very close to taking delivery of my '08 C2S, so you know my thoughts on waiting for a new engine and LED tail lights.

it always makes sense to buy a car if you can afford it and will enjoy it, otherwise why work. i just hope that you got a big discount (around 10%) and circa 5% financing.
|
I'm assuming you are getting a black interior. I think red belts look great with black interiors, especially on a black car. Will be monitoring for you photos this weekend. (We Porsche owners are so easy).
|
Sounds nice. Love the red belts. PSE isn't that big a deal and you can always add it later.
|
Thanks all. I'll post pictures this weekend. I did get a great discount and thats what sealed the deal. I'll have to see the red belts, they will be a nice contrast, I guess. The Carerra Sport wheels against the Basalt Black really make it for me though. I can't believe how wide they are.

You'll love the red seatbelts....I certainly love mine.

Enjoy and congrats I also have the Basaly Black on my S and must say, it is hands down the best car color I have ever had. While certainly not as easy to keep clean as arctic silver, it is 1000% easier than basic black, and shows almost zero spidering, scratches, etc Plus, when and if you Zaino that ride, you'll be blown away at the depth of the paint. I have the linen interior, or would also have changes out the belts to Red...looking forward to seeing pics

Thanks, Ive been reading your previous posts about the basalt black and they actually helped me make my decsion. I was concerned about the standard black, although it's beautiful, regarding scratches so the fact that it doesn't show the spidering as much is a big plus. My previous Cayman S was AS and was real easy to keep cllean but black is tops in my book. I'm a big Zaino fan and can't wait to get a few applications on the car. It will be a good bonding experience. In fact I'm washing my microfiber towels and Indian cotton terry towels as I type. Detailing a car is part of the fun for me. Wax on, wax off. |
I hear ya...glad that I could have helped in some way. I have been using the Zaino AIO, and the clear seal, and that is it! Car looks unbelievable even when dirty enjoy it and post those pics!! Also, if you start to consider Mods, I just did the Softronic and Suncoast Headers...yowzers...VERY happy now. Also, get the clear side markers ASAP>

Congrats... looking fwd to pics... I too have red belts. I did not think I would like them but they certainly give a good contrast to my car ... Not at all sorry now.
